As was discussed in the recent NGNG Podcast PGI likely want changes to LRM and to nerf indirect fire and Artemis.

I understand that indirect LRM Spam is infuriating to some Players but imho it is no more infuriating than any other Roflstomp and most often with a lower chance of success.
Yet i am positive to changes that lower the impact of indirect LRM usage and encourage LRM usage with a LOS between Target and LRM-Mech.

LRM can be made less attracitve to use indirect (without LOS to the LRM Mech) by increasing the basic spread as wanted - this is a very easy to implement solution.

TAG and Narc.
These are tools to buff indirect LRM effectiveness as they can be used by another Mech to increase the damage the LRM Mech does by making Target Lock, Tracking, Spread better while the LRM Mech can stay almost a Mile afar and shot volleys of Missiles at the designated Target.

TAG needs its range reduced in a way that the Tagger (the Mech that aims at the Target with its TAG) will be in Medium Laser range and can be fought off by Brawler builds - easy solution.

NARC gets a Health pool for its Narc Beacon that goes down with the amount the Target is hit until it is detoriated and the Narc Beacon stops working.
This Health pool can be adjusted as needed - very easy solution.

TAG + NARC do not add up with multiple usage but divide their power.
If 2 Narcs are active the same time each of it has 50% power, if 4 Narcs are eactive each has 25% power and the same for TAGs.
Reason is the Missiles can not differentiate between multiple sources and randomly spread out between the Signal Sources which means some Missiles will not head for their desingated target but be interfered by the other signals and not hit their target for being misguided.
Should be a possible solution.

Artemis is the only LRM Mech bound direct fire buff a LRM Mech has and afair it has a mximum range of 750m, that means that very longe range LRM usage is not buffed by Artemis but only mid to short range usage is affected.
Also it only works if the LRM Mech has a LOS on the target that is not under ECM Coverage which means Artemis is Pretty easy to counter.

If we increase the Basic spread of LRM then Artemis is the tool to encourage direct LRM usage in mod to short range situations as it works only for the Mech carrying Artemis.
That means Artemis must receive a buff that outweights the Basic spread increase of LRM and make them a worthwhile direct fire weapon.
For that IS-LRM must chagen from a hard min range to a soft min range like Clan LRM as 180m is a way to big min range to handle in direct fire cmbat.
Also the Lock aquiring can not be nerfed bcs the closer the LRM Mech is at ist target the harder it becomes to track the target as the reticle Deviation is alredy nerfed to a pretty narrow defree and nerfing this would counter the Ambition to make LRM a direct fire weapon and in contrary would make LRM again a Long range indirect fire volley pamming weapon if used.

Aquriring a lock On is already hard enough and without Artemis often enoug almost impossible and with the proposal of ECM buffs if any it very probalby needs to be buffed.

Artemis is therefore up for a buff of its cluistering, tracking, Lock On, maybe with a slight range decrease to 600m - should be an easy solution as it is only changing some values.

Thats my POV regarding LRM, Artemis, TAG and Narc.

Thx for reading.

I recommend people bring AMS and tell others to do the same. Tell others and their pet rocks to stop bringing only damage-dealing meta-whoring load outs and start spending some tonnage on countermeasures if LRMs are that much of a horrendous problem for people.

Agreed.
And they can take their no ton/ no slot cool shot and cram it in their exhaust port.

That's actually about the best idea imo, but to beat a deadhorse with a 2x4.... scouting skills like NARCing need to be far better rewarded. Having an Ace NARC'er is like seeing a rainbow or finding a 4 leaf clover when you get stuck on a team with a bunch of lurm boats.

If you want a direct fire long-range lock-on missile weapon, play ATMs, or for no-lock on and medium range, MRMs..

Leave Britney (LRMs) alone!!!!
