As a word of advice to fellow light mechs... Don't back stab the Sun Spider!
Now it's all fine and good if you can one shot it with a crazy alpha build. But for me it seems like they have crazy turn speeds and by the time you open them up they've already turned around and are shooing you away.

So if you have a choice between backstabbing a few different mechs, save them for last if at all possible. Ruined a perfectly good streak when one turned around suddenly and started firing at my PIR-1. Had to run off and plot my revenge.

Anyone else know of big juicy targets that are often more trouble than they're worth?

If you are having trouble with Sunspiders, you could always try backstabbing Marauder IICs. The Scorch in particular is virtually defenseless at close range. When I'm piloting mine and I'm always scared of Lights. Most of the time those MAD IICs fall before you even get target lock on them, so no need to even check their loadouts. Just get stuck right in, Mechwarrior!

When you are in a Piranha, many times it is best to go for the rear ST rather than the rear CT of the unsuspecting foe. Side torsi have much less health than CT, and even if the other guy manages to save his ST by twisting in time, his weapons on that ST will be gone thanks to MG crits. Not to mention the crappy IS XL engine that blows up when a ST is gone.

It's almost as if IS mechs have some type of magical survivability imbued within even when the torso is cored. Almost as if...

As if IS mechs don't all use Xls. It's rare for an IS light not to have xl. I've ran std on my IS lights but those were for trolling often with sub 300 dmg and maybe one kill at best. The vast majority of IS lights need xl. Lfe if you have only the lasers.

Whereas I had to take the mobility tree on my Sun Spider because it drives like a Timber Wolf/garbage truck.
