Hi all, I haven't played the game in a long time, and I saw one of my favourite YouTubers playing it the other day. So I was wondering if the game has improved at all in terms of performance.

When I used to play the game a few years ago performance was pretty awful on my 1080TI and I was unable to get framerates above 60 FPS. Sometimes it would drop below, as low as 40.

So: is anyone able to get framerates as high as 100 FPS? If so please post your hardware and what settings you use?

Thanks.

PS: I have a 5900X + 3080 now. And I run at 1440p 16:9.

Not sure how your 1080Ti couldn't get above 60fps, since my i5 7600K (4.8Ghz) + 1070 averages 110fps @ 1920x1080.

Game is largely CPU bound. Past a mid range graphics card, nothing is going to make much difference if you don't have a faster processor.

I am running on a laptop with a 1070. MWO struggles to get above 30-35FPS with some settings lowered. Far Cry 5 sits on about 70FPS with everything on Ultra.

Hello there, Yosharian... The problem is your increased high resolution and format. I found out the other day via the proverbial old "trial and error method" that someone at PGI has really messed things up so that if you don't/won't/can't/couldn't use "1920x1080" in "Borderless Full Window" mode, then performance will suffer. The game has been optimized for that single mode only, and the rest has been left to be totally screwed over. And in case you're wondering, I'm on a clunky old "AMD FX-4300 + NVidia GeForce GTX 670 + 16 GB RAM" here, which should be running like a stalled potato but instead has been doing the opposite. Yes, it's not 100 FPS and never has been, but at least it has been mentally passable as playable.

Ryzen 5800X with +200MHz PBO target, (up to 4.95GHz on up to four cores, at least 4.875GHz on each remaining core) RX 5700XT, DDR4 3600 with top-tier timings, NVMe storage, running at 1080p fullscreen max settings without motion blur.

As long as I'm not power-limiting the GPU, I get in the upper 90's for FPS. When I had an early version Ryzen 3600 instead, with all the same hardware and settings, I was only in the mid-70's. When running at 4k for supersampling testing, I was still able to get at least 50FPS.

Is your CPU running at stock speeds? If it is, then you've actually got a weaker CPU than I do as far as this game is concerned, since it's not heavily multithreaded.

what kind of cooling you running on that thing? my 8086k kind of hovers at around 4.4ghz in game which isnt bad for an air cooled (cryorig c7 cu) sff build.
