The only criticism I have about graphics in mechwarrior games involves lasers not being treated as a light source.
1:40 in the video above displays what lasers in a BT/MW game should look like imo.

thats nothing. look up videos of industrial lasers. they got beams that can punch through a quarter inch of steel.

I have something like an industrial laser for engraving/cutting material.
Think I fkd up my eyes a little looking @ laser light reflected from the walls.
You can't really see it in that video clip but the colors and tint are beautiful imo.
