I remember being somewhat active in a german clan wolf back in the day. They even had an initiation ceremony which I totally messed up by not knowing the protocol.

They sure did, I remember taking a combat trial (1 vs. 3 fight) to go up in rank... i was the 2nd best pilot in WX at the time, and felt pretty confident... there was only one guy who could consistently beat me, and that was my wingman (Joker) (who I trained early on in his career)

anyway, by random chance, i ended up drawing my wingman, Rhyswolf (The clan Khan, and at one time, the best pilot in WX) though he had taken a break, and was a bit rusty during my trials, and of course, a 3rd good WX pilot (Kiri)

I know they were all rooting for me, to take rank, but... I remember Rhys giving me the... well, isn't that just the **** luck on the draw luck sort of speech, just before going in,

so it was me, vs. the best in our clan,
and i didn't win that day,
but i remember that day! and many others, even though it must have been 20 years ago now,
and how much fun it was to be a part of mercnet... back in the day,
(i did come very close though, and fought like hell)

MWO has done such an awesome job of bringing life back to that early mechwarrior experience,
