Well been doing some more testing and frankly, ALL missiles are more or less dead in the current state of the game.
Its not that you cant make them work, but the damage they deal is so inefficient that its just not worth even carrying the things to a real fight when a single UAC-20 is arguably the equivalent of 6 SRM-6 in lethality outside of facehugging range, weighs less, and runs cooler.
LRMs have never been crazy good outside of the combination of 12man with NARC and a open map with little to no hard cover. You can force them to work, but you pretty much need to break 1500dmg consistently to do the same contribution a 500-750 dmg laser or ballistic boat would do.
MRMs are the same story as SRMs, spread kills them against anything but sandblasting very low agility mechs that cannot evade and are big enough to get 90% of them on target. Now they have 1 redeeming quality that shouldnt be overlooked, high damage per hardpoint and relatively good tonnage efficiency, but like SRMs, id rather have a single UAC-20 which will deal similar damage to a MRM-40 but be capable of directing 100% of the damage to a component with good aim and skill, MRMs even with aimbot and static target will never get 100% of their damage into a single part of the target.
ATMs are the clam MRM, and imo the only missile worth touching on clam side. They offer very high burst damage and good DPS but with the obvious issues of being hot, high on slots, and still having very high spread. Really the sole reason i even use them these days is because of their damage at the optimal range which far exceeds anything you could get out of SRMs and is actually less spready then SRM-6s are nowadays (cSRM-6 is useless, just useless as it cant hit a dire at 200m with every single round). That and you can still dumb-fire them at larger targets so they can be used without locks if you understand how to and have good aim/lead.
So yeah, thats my 2c on the current state of missile weapons. They can work in extremely niche situations and well certain mechs have to use em due to hardpoints (there are plenty of mechs that just dont have ballistic/energy in viable quantities). Still, the current meta is half vomit and half dakka, anything else is just worthless in a competitive environment. My MCII-B (with the newly discovered OP AC-80 loadout) exposes and removes 80 damage from mostly 1 component on the enemy if i get a good shot on them (or just removes the entire mech if its a light or medium that isnt shielding like crazy). Give me a missile build that can RELIABLY do that at 300m or so distance (even the ATM-48 cant pull this off consistently despite doing a max theoretical damage of 144 per trigger pull, and forget any other combo of missiles).

Atm, Streaks, And Agressive Lrm Now Is Basically Removed From The Game.

Every time PGI swings the change hard right or hard left, we lose a few more players that have had it...
The population is pretty low and I'd bet we lost another .05 percent of the LRM community. Say what you want, MWO can't afford to lose anyone and of we continue like this, the doors will close.
Don't worry JediPanther, the rest of us could care less about anyone's stats because they never had meant anything from day one and mean nothing now.

Exactly this, they should have simply stopped buf/nerfing lrms, if whiners on both sides just agreed to disagree there would not be so many back and forth changes.
The pop also took a huge dive when lrmageddon came along. But its true we need each other as much as some of us dont like each other.
I too have been stat shamed unfortunently, so i can sympathise. dont like those darn stat shamers.

Can still stay back and rain.
But i cant be on the front and get my own locks,
because now i get nearly cored until i get a lock with the artemis nerf and will now get hit my torso more because i cant wiggle/twist anymore because arc/targetradius nerf.
Means that my boats need to stay back, nned indirect locks and spam more because i can reduce my near max armor by 1/3, remove 4 tons of artemis and dont need cap or ams anymore, thats 20 tubes more and lots of ammo.
They nerfed proper usage of lrms but did nearly nothing for skillless indirect massspamming.
Is this that what you wanted and what you chear for?

Dont sacrifice so much armor for lrms? i dont get why lrm boats go full lrm, that min range should be a clear indicator of not boating yet it still happens. I play my trebs and catpult with lrms but i make sure to have some direct fire weapons. Its more beneficial for an lrm player to mix up weapons to cover their weakness then boating full lrms and running the risk of low armor and min range.

The anti-LRM crowd seems to be so blinded by their hatred of the weapon they are unable to see this.
It would have been nice if pgi didnt buff lrms, then this nerf wouldnt have happened. lurmers kinda brought this on themselves with the whole "lrms weak" they got buffed and now get nerfed. pgi should just stop touching them.
