Okay, who watched too much Power Rangers as a kid ? Skull torso ? Really ?

Can we have something that captures the Samurai look in the torso like :

ps.
I was stoked about getting the Hatomoti-chi....but I don't think I will be buying it now.

You're not getting what looks like a solid mech because of a minor cosmetic detail?

I guess that's your choice as a consumer...

Holy crap they actually released the Hatamoto Chi? I've never bought a mechpack for looks before but I might make an exception this time!

Now the only thing left is to add a Sashimonl bolt on:

Original Hatamoto looks absolutely nothing like any of the hundreds of years worth of different armor designs used in Japan.
This one at least has a theme going for it. And yes, that theme is 100% that myth of sentient armor that Darkstalkers, RA3 or TTGL use.

I always thought the Hatomoto mirrored the pigeon breasted Do that came into vogue after Japan came into contact with the Portugese.

They generally had a central crease running down the front of the Do.

I do not dislike the general styling, but those divergant missile ports + the lower edge of the torso make it look like a power ranger villain :/

C&C was done in by the Economic Crisis (all in all since C&C was a passion-project kind of deal and brutal capitalism does not have room for those, hence the studio getting the axe). Red Alert 3 was a great game and still is. Great graphics that still hold up, amazing OST, innovative gameplay, introduced the idea of CO-OP missions into RTS games, better balance than any other C&C game other than C&C3, tons of memorable/iconic units...

While I’d have liked to see the armored skirt the Sarna image has, I can see the Victor and Charger in the design. And that makes sense, as by the time the original HTM-26 came out, the Combine had taken Quentin, and Independence Weaponry’s Victor production line. The Victor-K was not popular with the samurai. At the same time, most of the original Charger production were in Combine hands and new variants were in production. The HTM-26 and 27 were efforts to bring back the SLDF Thug, using the CGR’s spacious chassis, and it makes sense that given the Victor being in Combine production-at the same weight class-but not popular (as the totem mech of FedRat scum), they’d use existing design elements of these assault mechs in the HTM program to save time and money.

It’ll do, Donkey. It’ll do. I think I may try my HTM-27(S) variant initially with 2xERPPC, possibly try Artemis SRM6 launchers for the spread reduction, add DHS, and an LFE, and spend whatever weight is left up-armoring it. Bringing back the THUG.

I didn't watch cartoons as a kid, but I do like the Hatamoto-Chi.

It's the Charger that's kind of nondescript and forgettable. Though honestly I think the old BT design didn't give much to work with. All I can remember about it was that it wears those weird granny sunglasses and holds a very, very, very tiny pistol.

Because EA killed it by making CnC4 the way it was. Now they're mutilating the corpse with that crappy new mobile game.
