So I got an M.2 for my boot drive.. and I have MWO installed on the HDD... however on launching the portal from the HDD it still asks to install the game and the portal doesn't give me an option to locate the files.

Do I /NEED/ to install the files to my SSD? Is there a way to run off my HDD without reinstalling entirely?

Install the portal to the folder where your game is.
Example:
D:/games/Mechwarrior Online <-Game
D:/games/MWO Portal <-Portal

[General Solo]

The portal installs from the internet,
So install it and when asked where to install on your computer use the location of the HD games folder.
The installer should then check what you have and download what you need if anything.

Plus you may have to install any required software like dotNet first , thou the portal install should inform you of that

So install portal and browse to old game location when asked where to install

Run regedit and change the folder paths to where you want to move your MWO files.
