Phoenix Hawk Surprised Me

I had smurfy labbed it.
I had given up on it.
Damage has to come from the arms...
The arms...
They are the first things to go...
Why would anyone want such a vulnerable mech!
5 Hero mechs for money they said...
I paid that money...
I bought a Phoniex Hawk.
826 damge...
826...
See for yourself
I prove the spec and the no skills at the end.

I play the 6 MPL/ECM variant (only one I bought) and it works great as a quick flanker, light hunter and support mech.

I'm sorry. I'm a lorehole at heart and would like to believe what Chris is shoveling (e.g that all mechs and builds can be viable to any other mech or build based on nothing more than player choice),but that isn't reality. Some mechs are good and some mechs are bad, and but for an amazing set of circumstances, 4 SPL and a couple HMG on an oversized 45 ton mech, is bad.
You got lucky. Or maybe you are an amazeballs player, but the PHX, and that build was NOT what made that a good match for you.

That Steam, the cess-pool it is is nicer...well.
A lot of you have to get out of your own bottom-holes.

Also, I think your build is undergunned. You're barely generating heat, which tells me you aren't meeting your damage potential. Try 4x ML or x4 MPL with 2 MG (1/2 ton of ammo)
KUROI KIRI
EDIT: 3 tons of AMS ammo is probably excessive. Maybe 2 AMS and 2 tons of ammo at most.

It was an okay match. Personally I like the Roc much better with Pulse Lasers and SRMs.

Sorry if you got so offended for the truth. I haven't been around long enough to be anti MWO/PGI like you seems to assume. I still like this game but sometimes truth just has to be said.
The 6MPL+ECM build that someone else posted is viable but the rest of the chassis is pretty lame.
Also adding some additional build feedback. If you are going to carry 2AMS with 6k rounds you should stay with your team to support them. If you want to go hunting and backstabbing you are better off dropping them for more weapons.

And though I go by the name Jyrox, I write like this,
Location: The system of Paraxes, near the borders of Myridia and K’poa.
More than a million miles from anywhere a probe drifted in space. It had scanned its surroundings, found nothing hazardous to a ship, and sent its report. Now it was answered with an instruction.
Engaging its elondrium drive specks of light began to flicker and dance across the probe as it lost solidity, fading out of space as it switched places with the shimmering form, and then the mass, of a vast deep-space mining ship. Its bloated hull, the shape of a curved brick, lay two miles long, one mile wide and half a mile deep, and oscillated with patterns of light that gave warning of its presence. Along the sides were huge doors capable of swallowing space debris whole, and at the front were pulse lasers and projectile cannons for breaking apart larger asteroids or gouging into small moons. Separating the mining apparatus from the rest of the ship a bulwark jutted up with a ramp attached to the other side. The ramp sloped down to form part of the mile long emergency landing strip that ended at the multi-storey hangars for smaller ships. In those hangars were the mining ships, tugs, survey ships and collectors. After the hangars were the workshops and stores, containing not just supplies and repair equipment, but everything required to set-up initial surface mining works. Finally at the rear was the raised tower of the command deck, habitation modules and an emergency shuttle bay.

On that hero varient he's using, 4 MPL, 3 JJ, 2 ams w/ 2 tons ammo, and a pair of MGs all fit with an XL 300/Light 250.
Without AMS/MGs, should be able to use close to a light 280. Kinda depends on what fits you and your play style with the phoenix hawk.
It's never been a "meta" mech, but it can do a lot, and really juat a lot more dynamic than a lot of mechs.

speed, agility, jjs, ability to disappear. that's worth as much or more than an equivalent amount of physical defence. certainly no one would argue that it's OP or even high tier but it's fun to take out now and again and produce a little. what else is the point? I run blackjacks sometimes and they're **bad** but it's fun to do sometimes. Luckily, the PH can actually produce a bit. I think I've carried a match or two in one.

As some other pointed out, 3 small lasers and 2HMG is a really REALLY light loadout, especially if you are doing under 100kph unskilled. I consider 280 as the minimum engine rating for PXHs, unless you are trying some crazy loadout - this should already put you over 100 kph.
For KK and the -1 I would ditch the MG and go for a moderately big ballistic LB10/AC10/UAC5 and lasers. These are in my opinion the least favorite PXHs and the two I do not own, nor intend to. I love my PXH-2 and -3S, so much fun and you get underestimated a lot
