I tryed other games recently. Now im totally paranoid about the charts. They say tens of thousands people playing, but i can't get into a "quick" 5v5 game for few minutes. I believe, that its possible to cheatraise steamcharts population for a given game.

Dunno about you, folks, but ever since FP events were over, I've been getting QP matches ultra-fast and even with any weight class. Matchmaking speed is definitely back to normal, at least for me that is. As for FP, it was always ghost town between events or something like that. No surprise there.

shrugs
every "big" patch has a new mech
I can see a Kodiak 3 influencing a player numbers, but incubus?

well sadly not for all mechs, or even most that could use some, and even then, minor ones

all in all I'm not sure its such an incredible patch day

maybe that's just me, or judging from numbers maybe not

Considering the nature of the patch, I have expectations.

That escort image is rofl. Not only is the worst most hated mode in the game crap but it being removed if only temporarily gets more people playing. I saw the atlas got minor buffs so I need to try it.

torso twist plz-eternal last words of every atlas pilot.

What is your evidence that half the user base are anti-steam luddites?

I don't know about evidence. But my unit were very vocal about not wanting to install steam. Which I thought was a little silly. It doesn't use up that many resources, does it? And besides you can boot the game without launching steam. Not to mention installing and updating through steam is much smoother than the client.

You should see today's numbers for War Thunder, now that helicopters have been released. Posted Image

Why should updating via Steam be smoother than the regular client? Why would you install the game via Steam and then launch it outside of the latter? Posted Image

Also, I hate logging in twice to do anything.

The client always seemed to lag out whenever I would update or install and as a result it would take a long time to finish. For whatever reason it goes faster and notably smoother with Steam. I mean I haven't used the client since they updated it last. So maybe it's better now.

Personally I don't mind having steam on. But given you only need to update once a month. You'd only have to log into steam once a month if you wanted to avoid it.

This game has had such low population since beta started all those years ago. The only reason this game is still alive is PGI's "do the least possible work to not lose rights to make easy money" aproach to game development and "charge for eeeeverything to exploit the hardcore battletech crowd".

You could play battletech, or living legends, or mektek. MWO is fun, that's why we're here. Sure, could be better but it's still pretty fun over and over again as it is now.

I play through the mwo client. MM was quick for me at tier 2.

I wouldn't exactly call not using steam in this one instance Ludditism lol.

I for one just hate how steam has to be running to access your games so I only use it when I have to or it is more convenient, I don't want to destroy digital games warehousing industries because of their impact on my livelihood.

If they go through with adding a MM to FP that has a chance to increase interest although more change is needed if they want to keep any large number of players there.

Once again, CW does not need a matchmaker. What it needs is a campaign system with an integrated troop deployment system.

Less "eSports", more "war", please.

That's sounds interesting, can you explain the "integrated troop movement" part?

Battletech is turnbased, which I hate the most after MOBA's and Toxicity combined, MekTek if you mean MW4 stuff that's ooooold old, stubby controls. LivingLegends while very ambitious is just too big, it's like Polar on steroids, though much more interesting than Polar.
The thing is, PGI should be professionals, and the base of MWO is right. The problem is, PGI kept it at that base and never build upon it.
