This is not a "real time strategy" game. Its more of a "first person shooter" with roles to fill per your loadout and size/speed of mech.

There are rules for TT large scale battles were you are assigned points to buy/repair Mech, armor, etc.

I don't think you are talking about the right game, this is "Tabletop Chat". Battletech is very much a turn based strategy game.

To the OP, that is already how Battletech works, all units have a battle value ( BV ) that is used to balance teams. There is also a warchest points system for buying and repairing equipment between missions if you are using the Chaos Campaign rules which you can download for free on the Battletech website.

There already exists a system called Battle Value which places a set amount of points towards one Mech, Vehicle, Aerofighter, etc.
Within the Total Warfare scale of this game the Battle Value works decently for making games fair. (about 8 mechs on each side max is a good size from my PoV)
However as you scale up in warfare and move onto Battleforce (one unit representing a whole Lance/Star/Level II) the Battlevalue system also changed in values. A Jagermech costing 600+ BV in Total Warfare costs maybe 8 points in Battleforce.
Within a campaign system you can use Battle value or adopt the Chaos Campaign warchest ruling which bridges buying/selling/repairing things with how much running a mission would be.
Now obviously there's also Costs in C-Bills for those who want to play an RPG, but I don't use that too much.
