Range of both could be bumped up since it was nerfed mainly for the gauss rifle and er large laser. Gauss didn't have a charge up back then and it was before the Clans came. Now we have many weapons with longer ranges. Also, the day/night cycle shouldn't transition an 8 hour cycle because the transition from day to night and night to day doesn't light the environment properly. It's a neat feature, but unnecessary here. I can see this as being nice for a campaign like MW5.

Of course, those who only consume and are satisfied with everything in order not to develop further never protested and are trying to survive as long as their small biotope exists...only thats guys have no evolution only stagnation

In a FTL high tech universe, night vision should;t even be a discussion...... It never made sense to me as I've played that both IR and Thermal were so ineffective? I wonder what the original BT specs were?

In Tabletop? You had to use spotlights and headlights.

Seriously. Several mechs came with them (the Warhammer for instance), although they were a purely zero-tonnage, zero crit fluff item for RPing. There's a night mission in MW4 Mercenaries where you have to use spot lights to see where you're going. Night vision? Thermal vision? What were those?

Seems fine to me, once the fight starts i switch into heat anyway...if you further extend my vision...only helps me out.
Not that I advocate the change, seems like a low priority deal...

In the Time thats we can firing in River City from on Drop to next Drop the Restictions in the Heat/Nightvision make sense ...now is more a Big Pain in many Maps with dynamic Lightsystem (what a fine feature)...Forrest or River City by Night for many Players like me a Pain whe she handycapped with her own Biological Sensors or not edit the user.cfg

Thanks for clarifying that this isn't a recent change :)

But yeah, after returning from my hiatus, I don't use Night Vision at all (though I recall using it prior to hiatus). I use Heat Vision about 50% of the time in-game, sometimes more.

the funny and stupid argument of heat vision range restriction was that nobody used standard view.
when you see targets at 1km out they are just black pixels without many contours.
maps with good contrasts (Polar, HPG, Canyon, Frozen) allow to see and shoot them at every range.

it's a nice gimmick those different vision modes but for a game the dev thinks it is for competitive games it's a bad feature

I hate maps that go from day time to night time .. cant see anything.

Same here. What's worse, zooming in on night/daytime shift is causing flickering which is super annoying.
What makes it even worse is that i can't see anything on maxed out settings but can see pretty much fine if i drop settings to low/medium. That's a no-no for me, being forced to "uglify" the game to not gimp myself.

I'd be for just a clean look in normal vision. The lighting in this game tends to crush everything into the same color. You've got barely visible dark grey mechs on a dark grey map. You have to turn the gamma up to see, and now you're looking at light grey mechs on a light grey map. Day to night sucks because now you're pulling up the menu mid fight to adjust gamma so you're not blind when the sun comes up, also the game is chopping like hell and everything sucks. Visible clutter is annoying too, always hated the foliage on bog.

Been running a mod for a couple of weeks now, it just adds shaders on top of the game.
