Don't start a new account or you'll never improve and you'll just wind up bullying the legit tier 5 players.
What has happened is you have plateaued. Happens to everyone (I feel like I've plateaued myself). However there is always ways to keep climbing even if you don't know exactly how right now.
Some non-skill based ideas is to not defeat yourself in the mechlab. I watched your Thunderbolt 9SE video and it appears you didn't put any skill points into the mech. I know that it can be difficult to skill out every mech you own, but you're putting yourself at a pretty big disadvantage playing non-skilled mechs vs opponents who are maxing them. At the very least try spending 30 points pumping your survival skills up. It's a universally good tree to invest in.
As for some practical advice, I would say to think about this: Are you too reckless or too passive? Everyone tends to fall into one camp or the other and they are both detriments in their own way. Figure out which one you are and try to correct that. I got the impression that you're too reckless (I am too). In lower tiers you can get away with overextending because opposing damage is generally lower and poorly aimed. You can run through a bunch of bad guys and come out the other end with just superficial injuries. Against better players you get absolutely socked by high alpha, well aimed shots. Try to be a little more thoughtful about going around that corner with 3 bad guys.

EL, what works for you and what works for others may not be the same thing.... I've been in impossible matches that never could be won and in other matches we simply couldn't lose.....
Yes, there are smaller details that can influence game play: builds, positioning, tactical awareness as you have mentioned. But, what I have said is valid and the reason a great many players are avoiding MWO......there are no average QP games anymore.... It's why I only play a few hours a month.........they are stomps or being stomped. Even on maps I am terrible at, because I do not brawl very well...........yes, we stomped a team mercilessly and I ended up with several kills and a lot of damage.........that's not even close to being right....
I know, we never agree on anything but, in this case, I'm pretty sure a lot of players are getting tired of "absolute values".....stomps or stompings.....

That's partly the by product of this silly 12v12 in QP. MM is trying so hard to fill out groups it eventually loosens and let complete scrubs in. And if my hunch is correct, it fills out one team at a time, so the second team is more often than not SoL. Going back to 8v8 will make MM better, but a lot of people refuse to see that reality. Hell, just the virtue of less guns pointing at one direction will help reduce snowball effect.

Heck EL, we've been saying this for a year.... I might come down to 8x8 as the only option; but, with the polarization of the few that are left, I'm wondering if any MM could balance even 8x8.......... We'd still see huge disparities in skill without some ELO or "combat effectiveness" ratings that exist outside of PSR or W/L.
We been having R&D discussions with several game creators and new game creators on "effectiveness" because all games get hung up on what actually is effectiveness and what does that mean.... The military side is almost to the point of adapting a framework that takes into account each weapons system used by the player and determining "combat effectiveness" based on skills displayed in that system (tanks, ships, mechs, star ships, etc...) That way, if you drop in an unfamiliar "system", for players like you and other very good players, that ELO/MM doesn't penalize you based on any history and yet, limits you as well because you are that good. New players, on the reverse side of that, won't get farmed because of some silly MM system that is "just filling slots..." You could see new and vets playing together but the "balance" is based on individual "combat effectiveness".... The RPG and Education games are close as well and "effectiveness" is driven by an intuitive KBE (Knowledge Based Experience) engine that is as difficult as Combat Effectiveness (CE) and yet, seems to work better in many Educational game concepts and is OK, so far, in the RPG genres.....
I'd give 8x8 a try but I doubt we'd see any other metrics because of game population. I'd try though.

You sound burned out of mwo dude. You should take a brake and try again in 2 months. If you still feel the same you can congratulate to your brain which realized faster than your body that you dont wanna play mwo anymore
