I haven't yet gone for that specific challenge yet so I can't verify.

That would explain why i’ve only seen it go up by 1-3 points per match even though I see friendly missiles hit my tagged target.

I've verified it. Tag assists are being counted not the damage per tag assist. I'm at 9/500 and I've gotten 9 tag assists in the games I've played tonight.

PGI seems to be counting only the "Tag Damage" from the Match Performance screen.
It does beg the question, does the person that sets up events know how the game works?
Shoot down 500 missiles - 1 match.
Get 500 Tag Damage - 100 matches.

PGI did a wonderful job writing the event criteria....nobody knows what is exactly required.
They should just remove that one from the list.

Don't need to use tag, could use light tag; as I replaced 1 of the back up lasers on one of my "hunter" mechs and was getting it from firing the weapons group. Would have been faster but most of the Assault pilots and Light pilots have been rather lacking.
