Tag Damage Challenge Problem

Started going for the challenge that says to do 500 damage while using tag. The problem is it only seems to go up one when you get the the tag damage bonus rather then going up with the damage done while tag is active on target. For instance if a ssrm-6 is fired while tag is active on the target rather than getting 12 points towards the challenge I only seem to get one point.

Anyone else notice this?

Sounds like PGI coded it to look for 500 instances of TAG assist rather than 500 damage worth of it.

I haven't yet gone for that specific challenge yet so I can't verify.

That would explain why i’ve only seen it go up by 1-3 points per match even though I see friendly missiles hit my tagged target.

I've verified it. Tag assists are being counted not the damage per tag assist. I'm at 9/500 and I've gotten 9 tag assists in the games I've played tonight.

Looks like PGI done goofed. Tweet to them ASAP.

Same here.

PGI seems to be counting only the "Tag Damage" from the Match Performance screen.

It does beg the question, does the person that sets up events know how the game works?

Shoot down 500 missiles - 1 match.
Get 500 Tag Damage - 100 matches.

I had a match last night where I did 3 tag damage I also got 3 tag kills.. May just have to run a tag on every build Because this will never be patched in time.

They don't have to patch anything, just reduce the event counter from 500 to like 50.

50 is still a lot, but it's not anywhere near as bad as 500. So it's OK.

50 tag assists but 40 kills OR kmdds total? Still too much.

The Tag Assist is something you get when you tag a target and it takes LRM damage, you don't have to get a kill with it. I played like 5 games with an LRM mech with TAG yesterday, got 20 Tag Damage. So another 10 games and I'll have it. Not THAT bad.

That's right, you can complete most challenges in 5 games. 2.5k ballistic damage? 5x 500 damage games. 10 kills or kmdds? 5 games, 2 kills each. But 50 tag assists? 15 games at best. People have said that they get 1-3 per match.

Is it even 50 assists.....or 50 assists that did at least 50 dmg. (I.e. laser painting a mech while 50 dmg is done....So tagging a mech while 50 dmg was done = 1 assists....tagging while doing 100 dmg = 2 assists)

PGI did a wonderful job writing the event criteria....nobody knows what is exactly required.

They should just remove that one from the list.

Once you figure out what to use, it will go quickly. Currently 30/50 from last night's time with a certain missile mech.

got it up above 60 last night, was happy to find it dropped to 50 today so i was able to get my reward and use a mech that doesnt waste valuable energy hardpoints on tag.

Don't need to use tag, could use light tag; as I replaced 1 of the back up lasers on one of my "hunter" mechs and was getting it from firing the weapons group. Would have been faster but most of the Assault pilots and Light pilots have been rather lacking.

If you have a friend, tag/Streakboating in solaris is a good option. You don't even need to throw games, just limit yourselves to tag/streaks, and go for broke. Makes a fast way to get the 50 tag damage in if you don't want to run around with a Tag in quickplay all day.
