PGI: Clan laser alphas are OP.

PGI: *Buffs clan laser alphas*

Seriously, my 2HLL/3ERML HBR can shoot and shoot and shoot and not overheat. This is a big buff to lasers.

(good thing too, since missiles now stink within 500m unless you have twitch-cone reflexes).

Whelp, played a half dozen or more matches today, and it went about how I expected. Any mech I bore down on shut down in moments, with the exception of the coldest of builds (but I avoided them, anyway). Stun-locking with Flamers is very real; and anyone who wants to take advantage of it need merely put a few Flamers on their mech (2-3 good, 4 better).

Of course, you will take a modest hit to damage, and Flamer use does NOTHING for match score, so there is that. Regardless, if your team is supporting you then you can stunlock pretty much whatever you want and laugh as your team kills shutdown mech after shutdown mech.

I'd say I'm surprised that it hasn't caught on, yet, but PGI has been trying to scream "Nothing to see here! Flamers are just under the microscope . . . ignore it and move on."

I thought the game was kinda in a good, stable place right now.

Really the only weapon systems that suck right now are light PPC's and light guass. They could have used a slight buff. Otherwise balance is pretty decent.

Going to have to play a few games to understand what this heat system change means. Heat system seemed to be working fine, not sure what the bother is or why necessary to introduce such a possibly dramatic change.

Hi there. PLEASE put every available resource on fixing the "Lock-On Missiles Kills FPS" Issue. This is the first time in 2.75+ Years with MWO (the total time I've been with MWO, basically) that a Known Bug has totally put my computer to its' knees. :(

My Basic System Specs:
AMD FX 4300-series CPU
NVidia GeForce GTX 670 GPU
16 GB RAM
Windows 7 64-Bit

As for this...

Very Funny... But I actually use a Mouse & Keyboard, and the Mouse Settings are barely up to the point where Mechs are properly responsive to my Piloting Commands. <_<

I was curious why your wrists hurt LRMing. What DPI do you play with and what I game sensitivity?

So it turns out that the guys who ran the numbers and worked out that this would be an overall buff to clan laser vomit were right. These people have repeatedly shown that they understand how changes will affect game balance, and yet the community balance proposal that many of them contributed to has been largely ignored.

It's not blatantly obvious to me. To me it seems like they're trying to get this right, but at the same time it is a regularly updated online game, so it's a little more acceptable for a patch to be a little off when I'm sure they've got other things going on too, just as long as they get it fixed right away.
Of course I'd be a little more confident in my response if I knew for sure exactly what you were referring to.

What i mean by that is in the six years they nearly always break or **** something up when it comes to patch day. And it's getting noticeably worse hence why its a bit of a running joke in the community. Oh **** it's patch day!

Its not like i said it will be a lazor buff...

First think then complain ;)

FPS-Drop is crap but this can happen, also in other games.

Are you joking? Most of them ignore their playerbase completely, this is the only one I've EVER seen actively responding directly to their playerbase. We should be grateful.

Really? The only questionable thing I see is making the Heavy Large Lasers hotter than the ER mediums, and not even slightly readjusting their rate of fire. This was thought out carefully, tested, and based largely on player feedback. Again, you should be grateful. I'm not saying it's perfect but it's more than I've seen from any other major online game.

Gajin is the best:
When you open a thread for criticism, it will be banned. end of story.
Even if you write them an email, no answer.
When your account is hacked and you write for support...right! NO ANSWER!

There are many bad publishers and Devs out there, PGI is really ok with that.
Anyone knows EA?

I'm sure that PGI put a lot of thought into how things balance out, I just wish that both of my Kitfox didn't get hamstrung in the process. Because of the heat capacity reduction, it feels that overheat damage is much easier to get. This may matter a little less to heavy mechs, they have the structure to take it. However, for a tiny mech with only 14 points of structure, it's more of a gamble to fire your weapons above 55% heat (For context, the KFX is made of glass, which favors hit and fade alphas over DPS). It is very easy to lose the entire mech to only a moderate overheat. Someone may recommend running cooler builds, but still I enjoy playing my nimble stealthy pokers. This is only my perspective on the matter, take it as you will.

Lotta whining in this thread for what ended up being relatively insubstantial changes. If anything the heatsink changes were a buff, which people have been asking for for some reason. Yeah the IS armor nerfs were kind of disappointing but it's not like there aren't other options, and the clan laser changes were pretty minor especially in the context of the heat overhaul. Meanwhile Artemis got a buff, and LRMers that get their own locks and streaks got an indirect buff by way of an ECM nerf — which people have been asking for ever since the LRM changes a couple months ago.

Overall it really wasn't a bad patch. Heat will need some further refinements but it was a lot tamer than it sounded on paper.

Ey Guys, one question. Was it pre patch also that the Mech starts up byitself afte rheat shutdown??Jeeez, Iám playing for soo long mwo that i cant remeber the basic procedures if it was so or you needet to push override to start up again.. Because was testing the new patch with some of my "hot" mechs in testing grounds and was amazed after dhut down that the mech was starting up by itself. in 3seconds.and doesnt take less time by pressing override.
So someone can answer me that quetsion please? thx in advance

So is true for all free online games... but I have to say PGI does reign supreme when it comes to ignoring community feedback

because most feedback is useless. i wouldnt listen to much of it either when i step on the field and see whats goin on there.
on top of it, there will be always way too many people crying about a change, no matter what you do as a dev.
cant have your precious candy taken away by the dev so crying is better than evolving.

I am glad the patch showed up in time for me to cancel the now useless WHM IIC preorder. Why does this company continue to ruin this game? The number of really active players who spend money on this game and actually WANT any of this stupid "balancing" must be really small. I haven't found a single FP pilot who agrees with this garbage. Don't think that they matter? Look at the S7 leaderboards and compare those names to the FP leaderboards. Just when I was starting to trust PGI again...

FP leaderboard is completely useless, it only resets when you switch factions.
And S7 leaderboard is mostly comp players, and those that do play FP switch loyalty every single day to get games so if their stats were not reset daily whatever you think your rating was in FP would be completely dwarfed. Try watching Reckless twitch stream for verification.

This patch is bad, and you should feel bad - not even counting dropping such a huge ball on the QA.

Please, Chris - and whoever else over there makes balance decisions - call up Full Sail and ask for a refund on those "game design" degrees. You done got ripped off.

God damn dude....

Yes, feedback must be heavily filtered, but they're making us play the fools by providing insight (ie: stop nerfing Clan lasers) and do what they want either way, Alpha PTS tests were the most positive in god knows how long just to end up half-assing it.

Seems like a free skill respec would be in order after they figure out how to tweak the heat containment nodes...was there any word of that possibly happening? Every time they tweak stuff like this, it costs lots of C-bills & XP for each mech that needs to swap skills that are less effective for ones that are made more effective due to the changes. Cool Run, for example, is now probably going to be a better choice than Heat Containment. Even increases to mobility and decreases to armor bonuses for certain mechs affect their skill trees.
