What makes UAVs detectable on the UI?
I know in a lot of pub matches UAVs go unnoticed.
Im usually scanning for them, but when directly over one, they barely ever pop-up on the UI.

If I recall correctly, I thought Active Probe allowed you to target a UAV. But I haven’t brought that in a build in such a long time I may be totally out of the loop on what it does, or did.

You have to pretty much look at / aim at the UAV to target it. Once its targeted, everyone will see it on their mini map, just like a targeted mech.
Until you target something else or it's destroyed. Or someone else targets it...

The UAV effectively has ecm so you need to be around 150m from it to detect it active probe not needed, however anything that boosts sensor range will increase that range.

Despite what others have said in this thread, in my experience I am only ever able to target them when I am running an Active Probe (ie, when running a LURM or Streakboat).
I've definitely been directly under one, looking at it, and unable to select it w/ R.
My guess is that if you are ever able to target it and you aren't running BAP, it's because someone on your team has BAP and has it targeted, allowing you to target it per normal non-LOS rules.

If someone on your team has an Active Probe they also need to be within 75m of it. ECM was 150m radius and Active Probes where 150m Radius they both got nerfed at the same time however the patch where they brought ECM back up to 150m from 75m they didn't buff Active Probes back to 150m (ECM Detection radius not sensor radius). UAVs normally go up between 100 and 150m above the launching mech, so if the enemy was on higher ground or jumped while deploying it you could still be out of the 150m detection range the UAV has by default.
