It's been a while since I've played around with lock-on missiles. Most of the time, I'm using SRMs or MRMs if I am making use of missile hardpoints.
Today, in trying to figure out a layout for my new Blacklanner, I decided the low payload and Masc enabled speed might be good for Streaks. I boated a bunch of microlasers, attached a light tag, and selected Streak 6s for my 'main punch'.
I had direct line of sight to something, WITH tag on it, and I could not get a lockon within what seemed like TEN SECONDS of straifing. I was not under the effect of ECM, nor was my target.
At first I thought this was a bug, but nope, I tried it out in mechlab test.
When and why did we think this kind of lock-on speed was a good thing? This should be something you experience with No Line of Sight on a target with ECM.
Did I Miss Something About Missiles?

not sure what you have been experiencing, but it takes less than 3 seconds for me to get locks

I think you'd half to show a video for people to help you with this.

The area in which target lock can be achieved has been nerfed. Now you really have to put the cursor right on the opponent to lock him.

It does seem like it would be a good squirrel hunter. I recently got one myself and tried chasing a Locust around. Didn't work out. I couldn't keep a bead on them. It could turn better than the Lanner. But I was playing unskilled, so maybe I'll up the turn rate on it. Those squirrels aren't getting away!

The trick is not to let the Locust see you... the first hint it should get is a full streak salvo hitting it in the face. Then when it panics, you can chase and keep it in range for 2-3 more salvos
Thats what the ECM is for

Lock on appears to be affected by latency, holding your cursor over a fast moving 'Mech doesn't always produce a lock on. People attribute it to a lack of skillz but I think it's actually a bug that has become more apparent with the lock on radius nerf. When hunting lights in my streak Pakheet, I try to lead their movements, this tends to produce a lock on but I am very obviously not pointing my reticule at them.

Its much harder to get locks now. The help this add in tag, bap, skills and target computers.

You have to pretty much aim directly at the mech. The target box is a bit misleading.
