For the last week or so the loading screen has progressively taken longer to kick out to the game after a match.

Is there anything i can do to speed up this step...the spinning circle is making me dizzy.

Machine:
1080 GTX
i7 3,700Mhz
32Gb RAM
NVMe Main and Game drive
G-Sync'd 32" 4k.
Gigabit bus class internet

Solaris is slower...but even after FW/QP it takes forever now.

Do you have a ssd? If not a 500gb evo for under 100 bucks would be my next upgrade.

You guys busting chops don't read.
3,700 MHz is 3.7GHz
NVME IS SSD
now, I also run a decent system and the extra loading time I feel is from the blasted Splash screen of current events. NOT NEEDED. Needs a check box removal.
I also commented on another thread.
I had MAJOR instability with ONLY MWO.
I had an aluminum case and decent airflow but using the stock Intel cooler.
I upgraded to Scythe Kotetsu Cooler and have been stable ever since.

They once fixed loading time quite a bit but it seems to be longer than right after fix but not as worse as before... not sure PGI will investigate furthur at this time.

Seeing you know it all you should be able to fix it.

The load time or spinning wheel increase is recent...the last week or so it seems to have doubled or tripled in duration.

After doing a bit of research i looks like this could be a result of higher than normal user logins.
Wa(dang it...it just crashed after login while i was alt+tabbed writing this)(opening debugger)s there anything in recent patch that would cause this?

Unhandled exception at 0x00000000382FABC8 in MWOClient.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. occurred

Post your NVidia driver version. If it's 400 and above, I recommend rolling it back to 380s or 390s or if you're paranoid use the latest drivers from the manufacturer and stop there, never using NVidia's reference drivers. Using non-reference 1080 GTX that has some factory overclock? If so change power preferences to max/prefer max in NVidia control panel and Windows Power settings.

Also check your Event Viewer System Logs for any Errors and Criticals.

Might want to stop Alt+Tabbing.... since, you know, it's causing the game to crash.

It also begs the question, what else are you running while the game is playing? Could be that something else has been updated this week and is trying to hog resources.

Use full windowed mode, not fullscreen mode.

Internet speed? http://www.speedtest.net/

Also, use Task Manager to make sure you don't have background apps like mining active.

That's easy, there is no fix

The circle is loading stuff over from PGI's servers, like player inventory and sales n stuff.
They took care of that circle kind of when they changed the behavior to "only load all stuff" when logging in the first time.
Was around the time Solaris dropped. I think Russ's son was complaining why it takes so long to "load", I'm sure I can find that tweet if I have to.

The circle is more loading different things over the network, it might be that your network got more congested, or simply your ISP does not like to play along with another ISP.

It's absolutely not Hardware related.
Those issues are the actual map loading times, with your system you should be among the first loading into a map, kinda a sign hardware wise all is ok.

Did you Ping go up, or maybe you have more clients on your network (or more interference if its WiFi)

You could try to wipe MWO's install and install it again, shrugs, sometimes that does something.

snip alt+tab woes

Just use full window, that should let you alt+tab all day long.
But there is also always a chance that a new driver messed something up, its been like 3 driver releases since the time you describe from Nvidia I think
That said, my 2080 behaves fine when alt+tab, but I'm running windowed

Could be, but I personally think Ping might have a bigger impact, I doubt its very much bandwidth related.
To put it a another way, upgrading from 5 MB/s to 20MB/s did not improve the circle of doom.

OP said its recent, sometimes some nodes go down, sometimes traffic gets a different route and especially US ISP's do sometimes not like to play along it seems.

Ramdisk. There are some applications like FancyCache that allow you to use part of your RAM as massive cache for data on your drives. That's about the only possible step up from SSD.
