Tonight, had a GQ match with brother who is also on home network. Everyone on our team loaded in just fine...not one person on other team connected. Everyone on other team had zero ping, never loaded in. The funny thing is, just as we connected to a match, the phone rang. Caller ID said "Unavailable", and there was nothing on other end, like the line was dead. No dial tone, no caller, just a dead line. Game played fine, our whole team connected and Domination game was over before anyone could kill anything.
Our telephone is run through cable company, so it's not based on old tele tech. Not sure if that has anything to do with what happened, just thought it was really weird loading into a game where entire enemy team never connected, while the phone rang and the line was dead. Anyone have this happen to them?

I had something like this happen many moons ago when PGI's servers crashed. Everyone except me DC'd. It must have thrown up quite some errors as I spent the next 30 mins wandering around River City all by myself. No borders or boundaries either.
Fortunately I had a jump capable mech as I got into all the areas you can't normally get to. Fun fact: all those buildings up on the ridge to the south of the map, they don't reach all the way to the ground. I guess because you cant see that from a normal low perspective, they don't get rendered (or were never modeled fully).
Couldn't do anything though as there was no server authority so hits didn't register. Had to kill my client to exit the match as timer didn't work either.
I found out later a few others got trapped the same way.
Vagaries of the internet I suppose.

There were a few major patches where matches like this happened literally every single drop. It was glorious. Some short-sighted people used the opportunity to get their un-earned Death Star cheevos, but the more enlightened minds realized that the map boundaries were screwed up too and explored. B33f made a vid about it.
Glorious.

In my version of the story, I scared them off
