I swear the match maker is out to get me today...

I got polar highlands three times in a row, twice when I did not have an AMS, every time when I had a short range build.
I got matched against Endorush twice in a row.
I got two matches where the reds had 5 Piranha's.
I had two matches in a row where 1-2 people in my team never moved from their spawn point.
I got a match on HPG where I started on the leftmost spawn and could not even get close to the rest of the team before 2 people in our lance got eaten alive by the enemy light lance. One of ours managed to run off and the other was killed still on the spawn point (see above).
And there are missiles, missiles and even more missiles today on the enemy side.

I switched back and forth between a Light, Medium and Heavy Mech. And now I am really annoyed. Not going back to play today. It's just not my day.

One thing I like about being in T2 now over T4/5 is that Polar Highlands is less of a horrible experience. Because people realise that sitting around in the rain is a bad idea, they will at least push and move, and even if it means Nascar, it's better to get a match where you can see and shoot the enemy in a brawler, than one which involves 5 minutes of people milling around in the rain until one side or the other gets a clear lead in the Lurm wars.

It can still be LRM dominated, no doubt, but you feel less useless in a brawl build when people are willing to close the gap with you.

The match maker has become self aware, obviously, and is plotting your demise Posted Image

AMS is useless against LRMs. If the LRMs are few enough that AMS makes a difference, it wasn't a threatening amount of LRMs in the first place.

Quite true, but I tend to carry AMS on my slower builds, not for me, as you said, because the AMS doesn't help me... but it could help someone hiding near me.

You know what I've noticed? The matchmaker seems to put you against the same group/premade two matches in a row unless you switch mechs. I've actually been noticing this almost since I started playing.

True, one AMS is pretty much useless, but what if 4-8 people had AMS installed?

Triple AMS Kitfox will get about 1000 missiles, give or take 100, unless it carries LAMS. Nowhere near enough to neutralise missile Spam for any length of time. Anyway, when I did field mine, I got River City and we were rolled over by direct fire Mechs. As I said, not my day.

Learn to pad your multiplier. If there's no polar. Always select the least popular and unlikely map available. With 8x multiplier you can snub these candy as-s Lurmboys who try to force Polar for easy wins.

I have LRM'd them to death. The ECM is far more effective at stopping missiles than the AMS, no need to gimp yourself by reducing the firepower. When I can launch 80 LRMs in a salvo at you repeatedly, your AMS removing 10-15 of them doesn't do anything to stop me from killing you.
