I've used both. Mouse is far superior, to the point where it's no contest.

Incidentally, this presents a challenge for the Mech cockpit/simulator I will build when I retire. I could use a joystick for the fire control, but it would make my competitiveness in matches much lower.

So I think I'm going to have to use a mouse.

If that's the case then you're moving your mouse faster than your twist speed can follow. Don't over-move your mouse.

I think that's also applicable to me. I must adapt.

I don't understand how you are having problems if you have an adjustable dpi mouse.

Its the jittery word he is using, exactly what does he mean by jittery? Jittery would mean to me the mouse is jumping around. And tis why I asked for system specs, FPS and game settings w/what AA is being used. MWO is not Heavy Gear2. It may play well in the Testing Grounds but go live with the additional overhead, a large FPS fluctuation may make it appear to be jittery. If the OP could record a few games... but system specs, etc first.

He is using some sort of a 6 button gaming mouse with adjustable DPI... Posted Image

I play on a mix of Medium and Low settings to make sure that my FPS remains well above 70 fps so that even if a dip happens, It doesn't go below 60. My specs are i5 8350u, 8GM RAM and 1050ti 4Gb GPU.

By "jittery", I mean that based on the sensitivity settings that I switch on the fly, the mouse movement is either good for torso twisting or aiming. Not both. I guess it's more down to me not being used to this particular game.

That's not true, in the real world there are helmets that aim by eye sight, you look at something and guns aim there, it's most common in aircrafts. But obviously I doubt anyone has one of those at home or even if they do that they can make it work with MWO, so your point still stands for this game. But with the kind of aiming precision and response time you achieve with those this game would be trivialized by it.

Well, yeah, I actually meant tools widely available for video games, haha. Feels like aircraft helm would be a bit of an overkill, for MWO in particular.

Dude, when you retire, Eyetracking should be a thing for the average household. Although dont know your age, might not work if you are an old geezer by now;)

Mouse is the best and IMO only option. Joystick for aiming is a liability
in MWO
