PGI Product Management Team:

I'm one of those long time players that's acquired a lot of 'mechs over the years (I've been quite OCD about it, Pokemon in quest to get every damn one of 'em), from Founder's Packs, and various other packs either purchased, or won through streamer give aways (thanks RJBass3, NuttyRat, NGNGtv, et al), the 'mechs given away as event rewards, or loyalty 'mechs, I own A LOT of 'mechs.

It'd be quite nice to see as I'm browsing through my long list of 'mechs the date I last played them... I'm sure quite a few I've never played, I'm sure there others I haven't played in 3 or 4 years... PLUS, think of the opportunities for new events, "Dust off Event - Play 'mech you haven't piloted in 12 months or more", etc.

And for those of you that think I should get rid of 'mechs, one thing I've learned over the years is that the 'meta' tends to shift as 'mechs get quirked, weapon systems get buffed/nerfed, and competitive play rules get weird (like last years' where it was stock mode only - 'mechs we'd never consider playing were played because of their stock loadouts).

Anyway, PGI please consider putting this on your list of "maybe one of these days..." kind of QoL improvements...

Well I do like this, idea but when you say you have a collecting problem. How about a number figure? I have 129 Inner Sphere mechs and like 6 Clan mechs. I have 7 empty mech bays and my wife says I have a problem. Dont buy many mech packs so buying mechs individual takes time.

I own 669 'mechs.

I have every 'mech in game, including heroes (aside from champs, I don't actively pursue champions as they are "redundant" to the collection).

Seconded.

Would be fun to see. Currently I've been trying to build them all so it doesn't say invalid on 3/4 of my mechs.

That is the largest collection I have seen, nice work. Mine I only buy the strongest mech out of a chassis, IS mainly. But mechs that have added value, are ones I like more so have to finish the collection. Hunchbacks, shadow hawk, Cataphract, jaggers for example.

Their lore and how they look are what I'm after. If I don't think they will do well I don't buy them. For example don't have orion yet cause people said their hard points are to low.

Keep in mind a lot of us have been playing since the days of being required to master 3 chassis to get the skill bonus, so the acquisition habit probably started then.

I been around since then and I remember. It was not enjoyable for me. But thats probably because I never could make the old c-bills like I can now. Couldn't get over 100 damage and had a really old pc.
Still I dont see the point of buying all the Firestarter for example since they are all pretty much the same mech that can do the same loadouts. Love my firestarter but don't think I need all his brother and sisters.
Pluss dont buy every pack that comes out, don't like Clans dont like Assaults. So makes my to buy easier.

It wasn't all through 'mech packs. I was able to earn cbills so I bought quite a few via cbills when they were on sale, and again, giveaways from streamers.

But yeah, having to level up 3 'mechs was sometimes a pain...

Less painful than just trying to level one 'Mech today, TBQH.

The old tree was 57,250 XP for the whole thing, with the final 21,500 of that being the extra module slot that wouldn't make or break your robot (thus only 35,750 was truly needed to make the mech feel mostly "complete").

The current skill tree is 72,800 XP for comparison (also consider the need for some C-Bills). So if it felt less painful back then, that's because it actually was noticeably quicker per mech (could mostly or fully level out a mech in one good afternoon). The game's XP rewards were also probably different back then.

I honestly prefer buying the 3 Mechs to skill up back then.

My experience is different from yours, but, that's neither here nor there, probably we're talking a difference of accumulated GXP and cBills, which if I get disgusted, I can simply "pay" my way...

That has nothing to do with it.

In today's system, it's node by node with tiny improvements each node. In the old system, I could play two or three matches and then immediately get a big boost to some particular stat. I could also immediately throw on modules for boosts to those stats.

Infinitely less painful than having to go in completely vanilla.

There would be less dust collectors if they could inflate hard points or give epic quirks, like Dragon-1N used to have.
I only got some 300+ mechs if I remember correctly and 200+ of those haven't seen combat in Years.
