They did the same thing last year.
And they just officially announced it .
Yes I know they did it last year too but I thought it was a once off because it was PGI home brew mechs . That made me into a loyal payer . Most free to play games are not this generous . I do get that it probably helps to sell the mech packs and keeps players from running to other games for 3 months but still most if not all ftp games don't give this much away for Christmas .
It was a pain waiting till march though .

Because you see so many of those other 2 free Heros from last year "every" player has, right?

Fun fact, PGI, despite their numerous faults, is the only ones even doing this kind of a game.

There are lots of robot-shoot-other-robot games. You can find many for free with a simple google search along with all the past mw titles.

The only other mech games I've heard of are:
1. Hawken, which died and then got revived just to die again. Maybe it even died a third time, I can't even keep track at this point.
2. War Robots, one of the most Pay-2-Win games in human history where it literally takes 3+ years of upgrade time to get a fully set up hangar.
3. Titanfall, which is Call of Duty with robots (and isn't it basically dead now?).
4. Battle of Titans, which I haven't tried yet but might get around to eventually. It's supposed to be War Robots minus the horrible scummy practices from what I gather.
The old MW games are still okay for singleplayer but they can't fill the multiplayer void.

Last time it took quite a while for our dev overlords to release the hardpoint and quirk info for the holiday gundams. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even know what they want these mechs to have yet. I'm just hoping for ballistics on the Whammy IIC so that the Darth Maul isn't as mandatory of a variant to own.
However, judging by the Vanguard and Powerhouse, I'd expect these two variants to be underwhelming because they don't want people using those instead of properly paid-for heroes.

Oh, and none are Battletech. NONE ARE THE GIANT ROBOTS.
It's like telling someone to go watch Nascar because Formula 1 is no longer existant because "there are other similar things".

As last year, they are not going to give these godlike hardpoints.

Ironically the Warhammer IIC releases on the month of my birthday as well. If they announced the Rifleman IIC on the same month (or in January) then I'll be pretty damn happy.

You don't have to play on the 27th, no one is forcing you to. But I'm betting you will...

Yeah, because they're the ones with the goddamn license to the property. They've needed to **** or get off the MW pot for years, but they keep chugging along purely because there are enough overly nostalgic players willing to buy every single mechpack.
