First day was awesome meeting everyone and other pilots from our Clan like Ruger , Tbird , Army of One to name a few. Now I read much negative talk about PGI and Russ ect. and being here personally I want to say that in no other place do I feel like I am welcome and part of the game like I do here. Russ talked with me for 5 minutes and will talk more with him today. Now you go to other conventions and see how that works out for you as they will not spend 30 seconds talking with you. Down to earth describes it well. Tina is the best , met a lot of the streamers who are all great folks and real , not what I consider fake people. Talked with George Ledoux for a LONG while and I consider George a friend and just a decent person who is not full of himself.
So just wanted this out there so everyone knows that I am ecstatic being there and looking forward to seeing all there today and I am grateful for the gifts we will be getting from PGI because I know of no other game that does this and who listens to people like PGI and before those nay sayers jump on that band wagon just calm down and keep your negative comments to yourself because I and many others are having a blast here

So you're A-OK with THIS, Russ asking the sparse audience how many people "at least at one time enjoyed" Faction Play, with all the empty seats?

https://clips.twitch...5oVuqkwmU7NlN3w

Or THIS, shoving a young autograph seeker out of the way?

https://www.twitch.t...qMi1fzO8OGBxFZI

Or Paul blowing off the community by saying that he was "way too tired" to put together a list of any meaningful planned changes or updates, and "didn't know" anyway?

https://www.twitch.t...d-K6QK0Y_hHKzZY

Seriously?

Dont be too rough on the OP. His excitement is in meeting people he watches, plays with and against, etc. And his take on takes may be different from those looking outside in. Give him some time to allow other aspects to sink in. There are also aspects of things that he may have missed or not been completely aware of.

But if he is really on Vancouver, he is close enough to be useful.... hmm.. recruit him... that is the word!!!!

I’ve been to all three of the MechCon’s. Yes, Russ does take the time to try and converse with everyone. The staff are always willing to chat about what they can and are always very friendly. The community is definitely the best part of every MechCon. The event was planned out better and gets better each year.

That said...
Presentation was a let down. Nothing was announced and honestly not much has been shown or talked about concerning MWO or MW5. I know nothing new about MW5, didn’t see a mechlab, colorblind support still lacking, and why would anyone release highlight footage of the game tanking in FPS?

So I’m here at the Con as well. Some of the complaints definitely have merit.

TL;DR
You don’t make people wait months to release a trailer with poor FPS and just wing your presentation about nothing new. Town halls usually have more content than what we got this year.

I'm sure Mechcon is a great time. I am sure the folks there are nice people and enjoy talking about our common love for this IP and even this game despite all it's issues; devs and players alike. I'm sure folks are excited about the potential for MW5. Etc. But we can also be disappointed by PGI's casual disdain for public presentation, and the fact that over the last year they have teased us with "wait until mechcon" for feature xyz and they failed to deliver on anything concrete or even the hypothetical.
These are not inconsistent positions.

Could someone at Mechcon ask Russ or someone equally in charge about the Missing knees of the Victor in MWO? Its a year since I got my Victor reward mech and I never touched it.
Will they ever give the Victor proper knee caps again? Did they even know the Victor is without knee caps? The MW5 trailer showed us a Victor with knee caps, like the old MWO Victor and the HBS Battletech Victor as well.

Thank you.

I didn't find anything wrong with this. Most of us did enjoy FP at one point in it's history. The problem has always been population, buckets and pug-stomping, issues they've tried to address and unfortunately made worse in the process.

He wasn't shoving that kid, get real, yeah he was inconsiderate but nothing untoward. From a PR perspective he did the wrong thing, being the face of a company he's expected to pamper every fan and kiss every baby thrown his way but we all know this is reality and that will never happen.

Yeah, that one was taking the biscuit. He's had months to prepare and has nothing... Being too tired is an excuse, he could have easily asked someone else on the team to compile a list and spent an hour familiarising himself with it before the con'.

Glad you are having fun. It looks like it has been a pretty fun time meeting everyone, playing all the demo's and giving the pods a try. Personally i am most interested in the catalyst area, but sadly they did not show much of that.

Mech 5, looks pretty sweet, a big step up from mech 4, though i did laugh at save the town, while destroying all the buildings but i'd have to think that was more a tech demo thing. How many times in the previous MW and MC games could you level a town when trying to save it? (a bunch but this one looked way more fun!)

had some pretty solid Comp battles too..

I just got to watch on twitch, and sadly the chat was even more toxic than the general forums. Nothing but bitter people trolling. It makes me very sad that people can't drop the negativity for even one day, but IMO it says more about them, than it does the people they are complaining about. Rage over Russ taping a kid on the shoulder as he walked by, oh the horror!.. It's worse than american politic with this community and that is saying something.

Can even have one positive post on these forums with out the vultures swooping in..

So like yesterday i will be watching, on twitch.. with CHAT TURNED OFF

Indeed, turns out that the boy was Russ' son.

So, my apologies to Russ. But not to Paul and Chris for leaving him with NOTHING on stage.

Yeah his kids are going up to many people and getting autographs and stuff, probably wanted to show dad his autograph collection at the wrong time

I said in another thread that I stopped reading after page 4 in sheer despair, but holy monkey dung guys... Maybe lay off the bitter cynicism for half a second. If I had people reacting to a product the way you've been reacting to this game since nearly day one, I'd have packed up shop and run off to Guam to raise penguins by now.

That presentation was regurgitate dog crap. How hard is it to put together a coherent power point presentation? OP has stars in his eyes.

I want to thank everyone at PGI and HBS for their hard work. This was my second mechcon that I have been to. My friends and I drove 20 hours to be there for the second year in a row. I have been a big fan of battletech since mechwarrior 1. I have read all the novels and played all the games. I have the table top and everything in between. I have been so happy for more content in every aspect of the game. I can not express how much I am looking forward to everything you are doing. I wish that I lived closer so I could help you guys in whatever ways that I could. I hope everyone keeps up the great work and it was very nice to meet a lot of you.

I'm sure it was a fun event, but that's because of the people and community.

It's a let down still because we were hoping for something on MWO, that PGI will have news for MW5 was a given.

So after waiting for half a year without content PGI presented nothing, except the fast changes Paul put on a list from the Podcast after discussion.

From the time Solaris dropped till April all we have is "wanna buy a mechpack" and not much else (yay balance I guess)
And even then in April, those changes amount to an increased wait timer once a FP match has been found, maybe increasing cap points from 1250 to 1500, more drop decks to buy n such things.

To put it differently, small changes, which was the idea months ago.

Ehh, sure, but if your still constantly over promising and under delivering then even those Penguins would leave you.

Basically just looked bad on a live broadcast, and I wonder how many watched but may never get the context

I honestly wonder what Paul would've talked about if JustCallMeAsh wouldn't have kick started that FP stuff.
He did say on stage its "all because of Ash"

To be frank, I look forward to MW5, for many reasons.

But that game is a year away, not sure MWO will do well if PGI doesn't concentrate at least a little on it.

I spent the weekend scrounging for free drinks, I think I ended the weekend with about 50 drink tokens which I partially shared and mostly drank. It got the the point where Chris and Russ were running away from me. Good times 10/10

I'm sure it's fun live -- wish it wasn't several mortgage payments worth of travel costs for me.

It sure was frustrating from the stream. I think it was just unfortunately timed, with nothing really major to show from anyone. So take away the social aspect and little remains.

PGI's news is they're working on MW5:M -- which was also their news last year. And that's fair enough, and I'm really excited for when MW5:M comes out. And for MWO it was REALLY just "do you wanna buy a 'mechpack" this time.HBS already came out with their stuff earlier this autumn, and Catalyst in the meanwhile doesn't have the boxed sets yet.
