PGI noted they wanted to listen more to community, but the community cant agree on anything. Listening to the community is a sure fire way to lose half your population at a time.

PS: Why would you have your lead guy (Paul) setting up pods until late into the night ? Only a handful of people would even see the novelty. Paul had way more important things to do like prepare for the presentation on FW and try and save the games population.

I just dont understand wtf is going on.

You cant listen to the community when there is no community.

The numbers dont lie.

It looks to me the game is dead unless the lic holder jumps in. PGI isn't going to put more money into the game. This is why we havn't seen a real update in year or more.

Well it's a beautiful excuse not to do any game related work for the past few months
Wonder what Paul will be busy with next that he can't spent time on the game

Should still be Microsoft, I think the license is due for extension mid 2020

I would have to google it, but Russ stated that in an old command post, like 2016 or something

The augers of skyrim
Who else?

Solaris city reminds me of Cyberpunk77 and i am PUMPED to buy that game.
I watched the 2 hour intro trailer.

Know the difference between CD Projekt Red and PGI?
CDPR actually gives a **** about the game they are producing and throw actual money at their actual problems which actually solves them.

However, they also (allegedly) force crunch time on their employees, which is a disgusting practice that needs to go the way of the dinosaurs.

Honestly, if it produces results, and said employees are compensated fairly for their time, i really could careless about the optics.

Except they aren't, which is half the issue. Don't want to do extra unpaid overtime? You're fired.

for some reason i was thinkig it was catalyst game labs. I say we band together and call microsoft out about what PGI is doing to the franchise.

In answer to the thread title:

As a matter of record based on their actual statements :
Russ has asserted that he listens to everyone.
Chris and Paul have stated they not only listen to but base balance decisions on the input of the competitive community.

From the perspective of observable history, Russ has engaged the community and presumably “listened” to thie input, indirectly in the various “town halls” and NGNG podcast/twitch thingies via the softball questions the moderators throw at him though those questions were from the community posting; and more directly with past “round tables”, wherein select “unit leaders” from the FP community and competitive community respectively were directly consulted. If we go by those instances he may listen to all participants but only acts on the input recieved from 1-2 of them at any given time (and sometimes not at all).

Chris and Paul have within the last 6 months (but only for a few months in the entirety) began engaging in direct dialog with the forum community, via their respective Balance and FP threads in the dev outreach area of this site. Though only Chris’s thread can be said to correspond with actual game play changes/consequences, but neither thread can be said to show that either of these worthies are actually listening, or to whom, as the actual results of the community input is nowhere to be seen (though it could be argued that Chris’s last patch which totally contradicted his stated goals was responsive to those posters who said his stated goals were a bad idea, i.e. he is listening; but even in this singular case it isn’t clear to whom).

Beyond that, the only area of the game where an objective observer can observe that PGI has in fact “listened” to the community is the numerous examples where one or more community members has made note of various errors and flaws in the game which PGI has then fixed.

Since people disagree on pretty much every topic, it is physically impossible to "just listen to the community".

PGI should listen to - common sense!

You have simple glitches and bugs in the game - FIX THEM!

Your releasing a new mech? TEST IT - Fix the animations, glitches, holes in geometry!

Your game is stagnating - release a new game mode, new content (not just mech pack), a new map!

You have a license to one of the oldest, richest, most epic sci-fi settings in existence with a bunch of books and lore already released? USE IT!

Other gaming companies have great ideas and are drawing your players away? Learn from them!

You don't have resources to make new maps often? Release the assets and let the community mod the shiznit out of your game and make maps for you FOR FREE!

You are organizing a huge event featuring your products? PREPARE FOR THIS!

You main game's code is buggy and limiting? Hire coders! Change the game engine!

All in all - put in the effort, stop doing everything half-assed and invest your heart and soul into this game! If you build it, the players will come!

Here are some simple examples from the past:

1) You wanna release the game to steam? Put something on the blank monitors!
2) You wanna release the Uziel? Fix the huge gaping whole in the geometry!
3) You want to make the game quality of life easier in a game that focuses around building mech builds - let the players save/load mech loadouts!
4) You want the players to spend money on your game? Introduce money sinks in the shape of visual glory items! Decals, bolt-ons, cockpit itmes, paints..
5) Make a logical, intuitive GUI..

After all this time, I can't believe how much stuff we, the players, had to tell PGI to do.. it feels like we practically made half the game concepts for them..

So yeah...

I would love it if PGI just listened to common sense...

They should listen to the community about the problem not about how to fix it. Very few in the community really understand game design. But they do know when they're not happy about something.

What i see with pgi is they release a feature, then do a small update once maybe twice then never improve it again.

Generally businesses listen to their investors. It is clear that players do not count as investors.

To original post: They say they have been listening to top...men. Looks like those top...men really know how to retain and draw in players. /s
