Just as players were clammoring bout, they release a custom variant the A and it's a early adopter's only(which they extended).

From what I can tell I can do some decent lbx/srm build or uac/guass with some lasers.
But hey ballastic variant that not a hero.

TL;DR:

LA: 1B
LT: 1E, 2M
CT: 1E, 1A
RT: 1E, 1M
RA: 1B

So basically it's not a direct copy of the WHM-IIC 5 like people were speculating. I'm gonna miss that fourth energy hardpoint but this variant does still add much-needed ballistics to the chassis in a non-hero package.

It's a reasonable response to the "whoopsie" announcement, and looks like a pretty flexible variant. Can't really ask for much more by way of an apology (especially since refunds are still on the table if anyone's not satisfied by an extra Wham). It can do a "Scorch Junior" build, so already a point in its favor.

It doesn't have the hardpoint layout of the variant that comes stock with HAGs.

They made good on the flub...a variant which adds some variety to the basic pack, a really good value for pre-ordering.

Hey I'm super critical of PGI, but this is good mojo. Well done.

HAG/20 WH IIC-5 would have been unique, personally that was my preferred solution even if the mech itself had less utility due to fewer hardpoints. Cool toys >> yet another chassis.

I would have been fine with fixed equipment HAG/20s as well.

HAG would be nice But that's releasing a whole new set of toys from both sides, and that's a good while away. But right now having a ballastics variant is better than having none, even if it's a placeholder.

Also let's not have any fixed weapons that sucks compare to having fixed equipment(b/cap dhs etc.)

im not totally against certain mechs having unique weapons. since retrofitting every mech in the game for new stuff is apparently a tedious task that takes years.
