What kind of quirks should the Gslinger get?

Other than good/great arm structure & armour quirks, I'd imagine not very much aside from the almost standard leg/torso structure/armour quirks for an IS Assault.

Since it is rather slow, I'd want at least some better agility than most 85t Mechs.
Also, it is build for long range combat, so some range quirks would be sensible. The arm mounted weapons won't be able to use them all that much, but let's be honest... we know some people will use those high mounted energy HP for sniping duties.

Yeah I do agree with quirking it for it's usual role but I do see it turning into quite the brawler.

Crit chance reduction to help the Goose Waffles not insta-splode? JJ quirks to make up for assault-class HoverJets™? Goose Waffle charge hold time?

This seems likely, too.

Well it's 85t so it gets 1t jjs. Still, heavy mech jjs aren't all that impressive either.

Looks like it could be a really solid mech, love how it looks in that first picture too.

I wonder what hero mech name would go with the Gunslinger? Maybe something like the "Maverick" or "Cowboy".

How about "Hot Shot" to go with the missile arms of the Jared? Or just Doom Fist Posted Image

I can't say I've ever seen an IS gauss 'insta crit'. In fact, I've seen on multiple occasions a gauss or hgauss wielding mech have it's torso cored out orange while the gun is still just fine. Clan however, that's instacrit. Doesn't matter if you just had only the armor stripped, a small laser will blow you up.

I've almost never seen an AC/20, let alone an HGauss, survive an open torso for more than a second or two at most. In practical terms, that's still an instacrit.

The canonical name is Bowslinger, and the story is actually quite interesting.

Jared Killian served in the 15th Lyran Guards, and when he married a woman, he found out she was the daughter of General Gina Ciamper, CO of the 15th. And she was not amused. She gave Jared the largest Mech that she could find, and although that seemed like a favour, she deliberated had it modified to carry as much explosive ammo as possible, hence all the missiles. She then assigned him (and his walking ammo box) to the most dangerous missions, hoping that he would die.

That's a very Lyran story... Luckily he survived and displayed some skill.

Note I didn't say never, I said almost never. If it only survives ever one in ten games, how much of an impact does that really have in the grand scheme of things?

Also, for the record, it's a 90% chance to explode when crit, not a 90% chance to get hit. And there's built-in CASE, which is token but still worth something when you look at how much faster a Fafnir or Anni dies when HGauss is involved versus when it's just dakka.
