So now all the less...evolved people can get even more shootzorz wivowt finking gameplay? Whilst the rest of us basically have to save our votes to try to force conquest games, so we can get a break from the relentless kill/kill/kill matches?

Escort was hardly the thinking mans game with most matches deteriorating into Skirmish anyway with the exception of 1.) The VIP wandering straight into the enemy firing line or 2.) the Attacker forgetting all about the VIP until it's too late.

Incursion came from PGI trying to make a better Assault mode, maybe we get something better from Escort.

I'm pretty sure most people play this game to kill big stompy robots with their own big stompy robots.

It's ok to want something else, but demeaning the game population for wanting to play a particular type of match doesn't do anyone any good (most of the population does not enjoy playing 1v1 with big stompy robots though - but again, it's what they want).

OMG. One of my favorite game modes. They just couldn't get rid of incursion, that not one MWO pilot knows how to figure out. Guess I am on my own now.

So do we actually have an explanation on why escort has been taken out of rotation.

Maybe PGI is going to take the VIP Atlas and replace it with a giant Santa for a Christmas event.

Escort Santa to his sleigh before the naughty list players can stop him.

then again i doubt PGI could even pull this off, even with 12 month notice.

Twitter post copied in earlier, basically "it just wasn't liked."

I'd love to see a multi-goal map of some sort with moving targets. Get the scouts out scouting and make their role important (more than just "chew up back armor with all the MGs" :) ) Make the heavies... heavier. Make the mediums be even more medium.... I think I lost the thread somewhere there.

I'm not sure making the VIP fight back would have "fixed" the mission. Changing course, sure. But that would be minor in the overall scheme.

Hmm. Not sure it can be done programmatically, but being able to switch who's "attacking" and "defending" - say, having to prevent repair teams from getting to an assault mech in X time, if you fail the mech powers up and leads an assault on the former attackers stronghold... which they then have to defend for some time?

I'm not sure. But more modes (and maps in the rotation - of all types, cold, hot, non-HPG lunar... ) would be welcome.

I already played every mode like skirm; you could have lights obstruct the vip, then go engage... etc, etc.

Really... what would help is a 30 second lobby... like faction play... that followed voting, having all choices available vs limited choices, and not trying to manipulate the community into game modes with events. (We all love the light mech ones that spur on the suicide uav'ers and whatnot).

In b4 poor analogies, and slippery slope logic fallacies.

didn't play it often but I did enjoy watching people who typically hide and wait for others to damage/engage the enemy (w/occasional peekaboo) complain about the mode.

On the one hand, I'm happy they removed the most hated mode from the game.

On the other hand, there is now less content in the game, and Escort was not replaced by something better.

I hope they rework it into something fun.. Or introduce a good replacement..

I always thought they should have armed the VIP and just not told anyone. Light rolls up on VIP, "Hey guys, I found the VIP". Only now he has 2 HGR and 2 CERPPCs and goes 55kph. *splat*
