Remember that cheap could be expensive.

The thing has lots of buttons for all your coolant flushing zoom window toggling jump jetting laser shooting missile boating autocannon blasting poptarting (even though I don't use that tactic. I like getting my hands dirty in close quarters) needs, plus it feels very sturdy and durable. It's also quite cheap, at $19.99, at least on the Logitech website. Don't forget the built in throttle!

2nd, (which I just bought today, so this is first impressions, also I cant find good picture) the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.
This stick is basically the Attack 3's older, more advanced, and $10.00 more expensive BROTHA, it has an additional button on the side of the actual stick, letting you have your full 6 weapon groups on the stick itself, the joystick also has a rotating handle, and a POV HATT! It still has 6 buttons on the base and the throttle. Speaking of which, the throttle on the 3D Pro is actually looser than the Attack 3's, which is actually better. It lets you switch to full throttle or going back full speed easier. It's still quite cheap at 29.99, and it also feels quite durable. Definitely buy this one, or the Attack 3, if you don't have much room or money to spare.

I'm really torn about this. Part of me wants to do more research and decide on a stick and buy one now. The other part of me wants to wait until Razer publishes some more news about the Artemis stick system.

I wish I could get my old Sidewinder 3D pro to work, but sadly I haven't found anyone that can get that thing to work in Windows 7. Damn you Microsoft for releasing an awesome joystick and then not supporting it!!

The Thrusthmaster T 16000m is easily adjusted to a Lefty and is one of the better sticks at the 50.00 USD price point. It's use of quality hall sensors give it better precision than X52 at a third of the cost.
The X52 has bit of a native deadzone due to the placement of the sensors inside the stick. It can easily be fixed by modding the stick, but this voids the warranty.
Most people end up cobbling together a HOTAS from various parts. Sans the warthog hotas, the most highly regarded setups in the flight sim community seem to be, CH for flight sticks, the X52 throttle, and Satiek pedals.

And just for kicks and ideas, if you haven't seen this guys set up check it out
Ohhh...huuu...and what if my boss comes to visit or lunch? Will he ever take me serious again?
Question: did you try to scratch yourself while playing? Did it work?

(and no, dont take me serious, I'm just jalous)

So (being afan of joysticks in MW) I bought a SPeedlink Black Widow Hotas. Nope. Aweful centre detents make it useless for aiming (quite good throttle and rudder set up for "driving").
Next: Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS. Great stick (brill in flight sims). Mimimal centre detent, and a very light action stick (can be inc/decr via a large twisty knob underneath.). Twist stick (can be locked out) and throttle with rudder controls. THrottle and stock can be seperated to strech around a keyboard (good idea). Throtle is pretty good, has a centre detent/dip at 50% which is useful for MWO - idle. I still struggled with aiming even with user file tweaks.
Next up I tried, Thrustmaster's great T16000M (hall sensors) twist stick. VERY accurate readings from the sensors. Reasonable stick (would be great for flight sims), but still too strong a centre detent for my liking.
SO far the Tflight HOTAS is the best - with its minimal centre detent , light action and throttle with rudder.
This got me thinking......
Bought a 2nd hand Saitek x45 (throttle and stick).
Snip snip, drill, solder, BU0836 USB joystick board wired up (Leo Bodnar) etc:

This is MOSt useful.
I now game in MWO with throttle unit - avec 12 buttons, throttle, rudder, and use mouse for aiming. I find this is the best setup for me.
I miss a stick, but have the X45's stick I can plug in for nostalgia (might mod it to improve centre deten spring and smooth it up a bit later).
If you cant face modding a throttle to fit your needs (much work required!), then I recommend the Tflight HOTAS: using a mouse with just the throttle/rudder and ignoring the stick (unless you occasionally feel the need between battles (I did often use the stick for navigating and moving about).
Just my opinion, but hope it helps anyone out a little. .

p.s. the X45 rudder is spot on for steering the legs, but neds a mod to increase the size of the paddle where your little pinkie finger sits - as it is too far away unless you have fingers like foot long hot dogs. I screwed a small plastic plate to it (with hot glue to support and stick it) - shaped and smoothed. Works a treat, no more streching with my finger to reach the rudder - just needs to clear the body of the throttle when depressed.

I get the feeling i'd end up like this..
I've always used a joystick for full space sims/games, but never tried one on something like mech for some reason..
N52te for movement and joystick for upper torso controle's might work though...
Bah guess i'll have to try this now and takes some abuse while i get used to it lol..
I'll start with my Logitech Freedom 2.4, yeah its wireless and old but meh it'll do to try it out..
