1. Realize that the other 23 mechs are poorly coded AI.
2. Therefore this is a single player lobby shooter where your goal is to maximize damage and survive.
3. ???
4. Profit!

I've been getting back to my roots of not venturing off on my own and supporting the larger, slower mechs as best as I can to ensure I have a better Quick Play experience. Players like Bearcl4w and Proton can do this like breathing air, but the average experience bar Tier 1 player (like me) really can't. The game is simply more enjoyable if you play to the strengths that you have.

Well, that and playing the game like you're expecting to be shot in the back by a team mate at nearly any tense moment. You want to be close to your allies, but not TOO close.

A lot of truth to this... I find my best games are when I'm supporting an Assault mech instead of running off on my own.

now, I don't advocate shooting the blue robots in the butt if they hide it out in the backfield, move to the left in a nascar, and so on. but......

eh...

where was I going? nevermind. Posted Image

Most accurate.

Unfortunately more people think MWO is a walking simulator and proceed to walk around in a circlar motion without actually shooting much at all.

That wouldn't be such an issue if some of the group weren't so damned over weight. The fatties at the back have all the picnic food and they're getting eaten by wolves and sharp toothed fish.

Best advice i could come up with is to think of quickplay as opposing sides rather then teams.
You have no teammates, you have folks on your side. Always try to be independent and play your game.
Try to avoid builds which a reliant on teammates (because you don't have teammates in quickplay).

When QP gets you down, remember that you could've been having an even worse experience, like playing Overwatch.

1. Accept that quick play is not 12v12, but 1+11 meatshield/distraction/shotblockers versus 12 enemies. Plus that the "balance" of "skill" and/or choice of piloted mech/build between teams is probably non-existent, if not outright random, n your just along for the ride so do what ya can to enjoy it.

2A. Apply booze liberally.

2B. If (1) has still not become an accepted reality for you, repeat step 2A.

3. Enjoy game to best extent that you can. If not 100% Sure you are, return to step 2A.

^_^

Remember, rushing around as fast as you can in a counter-clockwise fashion ISN'T always the best tactic.

Last night had a team with a perfect defensive position with the enemy caught out in the open, rotate (Nascar) and trade positions with the enemy so that they took our excellent covered position with good fields of fire, which left us out in the open "just because we could" I guess.

I simply long ago accepted that most T1-2 players don't actually care or know how to win, that I'll have a lot of terrible map/mode combinations, people will nascar every match whether it's even slightly called for or not, and that if I want to enjoy the game, I have to ignore all that.

I try to just not ever play sober, contribute as much as I can, and ignore all the raging in chat when someone dies first and blames the team. If you just accept that no one outside of group queue/comp will ever really do much in the way of intelligent tactics or teamplay, it's a pleasant surprise when you get the rare fun match.

My goals usually involve making sure I can maximize my score/earnings as much as possible, since I'm a mercenary to the core. If I get a decent score, earn a decent amount, I accomplished what I set out to do. Wins are a bonus. If a team is working together, I work with them to maximize the chances of victory, to be sure, but I rarely see that nowadays, so I never get upset when the team scatters, nascars, or just otherwise sucks.
