If I was a betting I would not put money on koniving "for the win"

I'm richer than scrooge McDuck and Mr Spacly. Loosing a few million c-bills doesn't hurt my space bank. Now forgetting where I put that cockpit item I want to use and have to go through all my mechs, that annoys me.

best sniper imo?

the one that is on the red side of "teams". sure, they can work - but do so ALWAYS on the cost of the other 11. so I rather not have him on my side, to be blunt.

Would you rather have LRMs? Posted Image

No, seriously, if a sniper is doing a great in denying the enemy any area to move into while also shredding armour, surely you'd like to have that sniper with you so you can finish off the easy kills.

A few elements to be considered a sniper build (just my 2 cents, and i admit to be conservative),

Range - 700M+, usually i refer to an effective range equivalent to a ERPPC to be a sniper tool
Speed - no less than 80+, the faster, the better, a good sniper should, and NEED to reposition from time to time
PPFLD - Some consider ERLL as a sniper weapon, but not for me, a sniper should not use any weapon that requires face time for its capacity, especially for one that have speed (to reposition) rather than armor
Jumpjets - Sort of mandatory, there are exceptions which got high mounts and high cockpit view which can do sniper job reasonably well, but being able to mount one or more JJ is an definite advantage
ECM - Nice to have, but not necessary, a sniper should avoid the sight from foes, even with ECM, good players can still spot you.

short answer: they don't deny areas. they don't shred armor anymore than other mechs - the contrary is true in most cases.
I'm not saying it is no fun to run the dual-peep-scat. I'm stating that it just isn't as useful as simply an additional body in the fight.
numbers win the game, and a sniper is by it's very nature not 1 more, but 1 less.
