Well, I tend to have voice on. I say hello, maybe some small talk, then I just announce what I do.
I use the command wheel to highlight what I am shooting at, and most of the times announce it on voice. "Pushing Marauder, target Echo". I warn of Lights sneaking in, if I see them, but I am usually ignored. If I am off to flank, I announce it and ask for backup. If I notice Nascar, I mention it on voice to give the Assaults a chance to haul ***.
I also pay attention to the calls of other people and try to shoot what they shoot.
I bring consumables and have auto-renew on those that I use.
I do not use override. I just bring relatively cold builds.
I do not read chat during the game, because I do not have the time to do that, in most games. People not being on voice has caused a number of problems in the past, in my matches. I played with a streamer who had voice turned off. I announced that I was doing a push because I still had good armour and was looking for support. He moved ahead, in what looked like giving me the space to push through. Then he tried to get back. Because he had not heard me. I blocked him. I kinda yelled at him to get out of the way.

We managed to get ourselves sorted and then he texted in all caps to stop blocking him. Which I did not see.

Because I was busy doing my push, which worked quite fine.
Only noticed when I went to twitch to check out the match from his perspective, hours later. So not saying anything is absolutely fine IMO, but please, leave the sound on.
Most of the negativity I see in the game is directly after the match. Some variations of "Noob Team, FFS!" and an instant disconnect. Or people complaining about being told "GG". "THIS WAS NOT A GOOD MATCH! WE SUCKED! YOU ARE MOCKING ME!!!"
