Help... I use to play a lot - left for over a year. The email with the free stuff brought me back last night. I was quite confused about the changes.

1. what is solars and what is the difference?

2. I seemed to have lost all my purchased "sniper scope views?" I thought it was gone because I see what looks like 3 level of zoom (included). But later I was specating and still saw some using sniper mode. I could not find out how to add it or the command to use it on mechs that I had it on?

3. I stumbled into an area with EXP point options? I think I bought some, not sure what I needed, not sure if after I bought them I applied them. Is this PER EACH MECH? meaning buy again for all other mechs?

I wasn't fond of the changes, but maybe I will be after I get what's going on.

1.Solaris is a 1 vs 1 / 2vs 2 arena. Mech chassis are grouped into divisions based on comparable performance.

2 and 3. Modules are gone and replaced with a skill tree. You should have received a refund for all the modules you bought, in the form of general skill points. Each of your mechs will also have legacy exp based on how much exp you accrued with that mech before. Go to the top right and click convert exp, there you can convert any type of exp into skill points. You can use these skill points to buy nodes on the skill tree.

Advanced zoom is in the "Sensors" skill tree.

Each mech requires it's own exp and C-bill investment. Generally speaking, getting the equivalent bonuses of the old modules will require less GEXP and Cbills for a single mech, but you cannot swap trees between mechs.

Also you should note, heat dissipation has been changed to equalise dissipation between engine HS and exterior HS, and generally speaking HS dissipate more now, but max heat threshhold has been reduced.

Head on over to the steam forums for MWO if you want answers with out all the snark. There are also a bunch of guides about the Q's you have. But in short..

If you are unfamiliar with the skill tree you been gone a bit over a year and a half. Modules were dumped for a skill tree. It works well and lets you tweak your mech. But most of the time you will be adding about half the skill points in very similar ways. There are basic temps in the steam guides.

Also any mech you had mastered will have 91 points to spend, it's called HSP. Any module you had previously bought before a certain time was converted to GSP which can be used to skill up any mech. New mechs use GSP, or convert GXP or XP into SP. It sounds kinda complicated but it really isn't

There are also new weapons which are pretty nice and new IS Light fusion engines. basically in between the STD and XL engines, but can loose a ST and keep going.

should be 2 new maps at least, and the hard core solaris mode which is 1v1, or 2v2.

Heat system has also changed recently which gave a boost to DPS mechs, but not much effect on the high alpha's. Things play similar for sure but you might over heat more often due to lower heat cap.
