Wait... Do you have to pre-order MW5 to be able to pre-order the Marauder II?

No, it looks like it will be sold separately.

B-b-b-b-but look at those assault-class JJs! You might be able to hover, like, 10 meters above the ground if you mount all three jets!
EDIT: And one variant gets ECM, conveniently placed in the reinforcements pack.

The "in the meantime" part is important, they're telling you that if you don't want to wait for the proper sale page on MWOMercs.com then you can get it straight away from the MW5 preorder.
I don't think PGI is going to put themselves through a PR nightmare by locking this mech behind a pre-order for a completely different game.

You can't mount 9 MRM launchers because one of those hardpoints is in the head and the smallest MRM launcher takes up 2 slots.
Also you never need that many hardpoints for MRMs because you can get 40 tubes in a single hardpoint. You'll need like 3-4 big launchers at most (quad MRM30, fire in two separate volleys?). Boating smaller launches doesn't give you much advantage anymore, it's just a downgrade to try that.

Not trying to go for efficiency, just pure missile madness, plus I wanna try the limits of 9 missile hp 100 tonner.

Yeah I guess you're right. It pays to be sure though haha.
The missile boat yeah I think quad Mrm30 will be common. 8 Srm6 might be doable as well, fire them 4 & 4.

This variant is practically the same as the Nightstar with ECM.
That's why I would not count it as something "new".

I'm not sure if I've even seen one person using the ECM Nightstar, so it was easy for me to forget that it even existed.
You get an extra 5 tons of giant robot with the Marry 2 though.

It won't even be that good since most of the launchers are bunched up in the STs--causing slot shortage. Which means in order to take advantage of the 9 launchers for Lurms, you either have to boat a lot of smaller launchers that can be defeated with AMS, or you have to use Std engine, which restricts the available tonnage.
If the MAD-II had those launchers spread between arms and STs I would give it a try.

Actually, the way I read it is that if you go with the MW5 pre-orders it sure the hell looks like they are including the Marauder II pre-order as part of the overall bundle, meaning in addition to pre-ordering MW5 your actually getting the Marauder II mech bundle as part of the price. If that is the case you are getting a pretty damn sweet deal.
As for what the Marauder II brings to the table that other IS 100 ton mechs don't offer, that is simple, the legendary Marauder hitboxes that make all the Marauder-based variants so tanky.

This one might have better convergence than NStar's horribly spread out arms though. Also it doesn't have fixed hand actuator compared to NStar. Still, as long as it can't mount quad UAC5s, it is a dead variant to me.

Granted but the mounts will be below cockpit level and as a 100t mechs it will have even less agility (not that I claim the Nightstar has good agility of course).
