So which range of HGR is correct? My game says 180m, with full skills that's 207m. I go to watch Sean Lang's stream and his go all the way to 253 meters. Smurfy says 220m for base optimal. So does mech DB. Why does my game not agree with anyone else?

Lang's 253 number indicates that he's got 15% in range quirks from the skill tree (from 220 base). The 180 number is wrong.

Did the mech have range quirks? Is the +1% range skills multiplicative instead of additive? My HG in the anh-1x say 253 the exact thing my medium pulses on it say.

All range quirks/skills first add together, then multiply from the base value of the weapon. So for example if you've got a 10% ballistic range quirk and grab 15% from the firepower skill tree, that gives you 25%.

i think weapon range is calculated from the center of mass/viewpoint/whatever, while the actual range depends on where the hardpoint is located. it varies quite a bit from mech to mech. a little bit of linear algebra would fix it easy.

When the Heavy Gauss was released it came with a 180m optimal range that was later extended to 220m, which is where it currently sits.

I'm wondering if the OP stating "my game says 180m" is just referring to a pre-game quick tip that popped up on the loading screen. Some of those are no longer completely accurate.

The Hunchback4H has a ballistic range quirk of 20%. Others get up to 20%, but can't mount an H-Gauss. So with the skill tree's 15% range bonus, you're at 35%, getting your range up to 297. It can shoot an H-Gauss round the farthest if someone were interested in that.

reviving this ancient post to say that OP probably has the laser color mod installed and its showing the old weapon stats cuz it overwrites Weapons.xml which has all the weapon data. updating the mod fixes this.

you probably just have negative range quirks.
it's for balance.
