In my opinion Earthsiege is the only mech series to ever really rival, and in some ways surpass, the mechwarrior games. I remember having to buy a SOUND PACK in a store as a separate purchase and install like 10 floppy discs, one after the other, just to get in-game voice overs for the original game. That was on top of the 10 or so used to install the game to begin with.
But boy that universe was immersive. Especially the music. It was like Terminator future wars but with mechs.
The most striking difference between it and MW2 was that if you blew a single leg off a Cybrid enemy mech, the whole thing would come crumbling down in a ball of flame. In MW2, you'd blow the leg off an enemy mech and it would still stand upright on one leg looking awakward as heck.

Earthsiege 2 was my first mech game. That game was rad. I could never figure out how all the missile tracking systems worked though.

128 player tribes was such a hoot. Man, I forgot all about that aspect.
I ****** hated that roleplay mod tho.

would you like a remake?
Namely earthsiege, an old battletech game from around 1994. id love to see a remake of this game.

For some reason, Earthsiedge never worked for me, but I loved another game from the same franchise:
Mission Force: Cyberstorm.
I played that one for hours on end.. It was a turn based strategy game with pilot-driven robots, fighting A.I. controled robots. It was played on a HEX grid, and had many cool features.
The pilots were gene-tank clones, you had to produce them, and then train them over time.
The robots had shields, and could mine resources for money. But there was also a cool story behind the game, and I would definitely love to play a modern version..
That's why I like Battletech - it kinda reminds me of this game.

Dude Tribes:Vengeance was pretty awesome.
Fond memories of killing people while they were jetting and watching them ragdoll through the air out of control.
I really just want to play another game with the skiing mechanic, it was the dopest thing in the world when you finally got it down in Tribes.

I hope you ever got to play Heavy Gear 2. It had an active multiplayer component, with jumping and skiing mechs.

Even better, though- if you got your legs blown out, or were otherwise disabled but didn't suffer a reactor or cockpit kill, it wasn't an automatic game over as long as certain other conditions were met. You could even potentially win the scenario despite having your Herc shot out from under you... or else be bumped over to the "losing path" campaign, where you'd be on the back foot more often but still in the fight. It was only if you were disabled in hostile territory that you'd be hauled off and dissected by Cybrids.
Maverick FTW. Speedy McSpeederson with a shield pod, ELF for legging and toeclipping, Plas for OMGDIE panic mode, and a rack of EO missiles for scouting and sniping. Next best thing behind the (hilariously OP) Razor for soloing missions with.

Damn right. I love the universe it is in, and the sense of desperation. Nothing gets you pumped up about fighting than the survival of the species.
There is something about this subgenre of mecha, that its not about some faction of mecha versus another faction of mecha, but human pilot mecha against a much more powerful enemy, a relentless, inhuman, often alien, enemy hellbent in destroying the human race.
Its like Attack on Titan on mechs.
