I'm not sure if this is a mistake or not, but the FAQ...

....Lists it as a Clan Battlemech.
https://mwomercs.com...ost__p__6191255

Its loaded with IS Tech, I made it in Megamek using IS Tech.

You should try emailing the developer. This thread is pointless.

Just a small holdover from the FAQ being copy and pasted from the Warhammer IIC - would be silly to type out nearly all the same crap over and over so its not surprising there was some minor issues like that.

Aw, no conspiracy theories of superior IS tech and Clans using them?

Nope just the latest chapter of a long novel full of avoidable minor mistakes. Just normal ignorance and lacking accuracy that is already a hallmark, so if there is a conspiracy then it's the question do they do such mistakes or comments by intention.

I mean if the pirates were secretly operating with Clan support, unbeknownst to them, it would explain how pirates can afford a 95 ton original pirate design. The Clans can't give them Clan tech, it'd be too obvious. But a little technical support and material. It would make more sense than pirates fielding an pirate assault mech.

Except that the Clan hate pirates with a passion and hunt them down with wild abandon.

As far as what mechs pirates would be using, well I would imagine that would depend on how profitable the pirates were. I mean if you think about it, back in the 17th and 18th century, real pirates had access to some pretty powerful ships like the Queen Anne's Revenge, Royal Fortune, Fancy and others which were capable of potentially engaging a Frigate and win. I don't think it would be much of a surprise that successful pirate groups could come up with some pretty decent mechs at times.

What I don't believe however is that a pirate gang would have the technical knowledge required to take parts, not made to fit together, and modify them in a fashion to make a functional mech. I mean how hard do you think it would be to take parts from a T-54, a T-72, a M60, a Centurion and a Leopard 1 tank and mix and match them together to make a single working tank capable of actually engaging and defeating a factory built tank? Nothing would fit. The turret of a Centurion wouldn't likely fit the hull of a T-54. The cannon of a T-72 wouldn't fit the turret of the Centurion. None of mounting brackets for anything would line up. EVERYTHING would have to be re-manufactured and modified and you would need a facility with some fairly technical machining and manufacturing capabilities.

No, not happening. I could see them fully functional but older and likely less well maintained battlemechs pretty easily but not a frankenmech like the Corsair.

So few people cared about this highly unlikely piece to care to read through all that chaff.
Good spot though.

It is interesting that whomever put in the sarna entry pointed out not only the ludicrous naming convention but also something else I didn't know about, the region these are being made in is in Clan territory by this point in time and as such the Clans were also not known to have mass production facilities there either (poking fun at the mass production generation/variant) nomenclature.

That's why Clan stuck out.
IS has 2 95 tanners already and Clan has one. It's in Clan controlled space. Lots of really bad loop holes here.

I suppose that level of proxy warfare and subterfuge isn't really Clan style anyway.

Poorly conceived.
Poorly executed.
No link to source or fluff.
No call for it to exist.
Excellent art.
Typical.
