So I was just firing another HGR, and i accidentally fired while my lasers were burning, making them go around.

Then it hit me, would it be a good idea to introduce Reticle-Shake on top of cockpit-shake when receiving?

Now before you start, I do think that it's a bad idea. But I do want to see a discussion about it.

You already get a cockpit shake when getting hit by ballistics and SRMs.
This is one of the best features of the AC20. The only thing that will make the meta RAC2 boats back down before they jam is a good thrushing by AC20s (preferably two chain fired) to shake them all over.

While this shakes the cockpit, it doesn't affect your aim. Your view moves, but your reticle still stays dead center. If you ignore the shake you can still aim and hit fine.

As another alternative, you could also consider forced torso twist upon receiving damage from certain weapons. Essentially you would add a force stat that you could use to further enhance certain weapons that would otherwise be lacking unless buffed to the point they affect game balance and TTK. Hit someone with an AC20 and they get their torso twisted away slightly from the point of impact, mitigating some of their ability to output damage and otherwise mildly debilitating their ability to maneuver. It was done that way in MW4 and gave a fair few weapons a much better sense of punch than they would have had otherwise.

The trouble I think the idea runs into, no matter the methodology, is that this is a no respawn game. When you start stacking negative effects like that from taking damage, you start adding onto the snowballing effect that MWO suffers from natively. You do get to the point where it becomes hard to the point of impossibility to bring a game back from the edge and also makes the new player experience that much harder. It's a good idea, but I don't feel it would make the best fit with what's already established.

Yep, this is why cockpit shake is so overrated. It only works on people who panic. Everyone else shoots back just fine.

Sure, aa long as the effect isn't drastic and they improve the mechanics a bit. It's a little silly that lasers get shot off in random directions and get stuck there for the full duration if the burn.
