In poor taste or no?

I saw it and my immediate reaction was "Oh NOW you want to be gracious to the whales."

Anyone else have a more positive take on it? I had a similar, although not quite as strong, feeling when I saw them finally tipping their hats to Founders...by luring them with MC to buy MW5.

They are hoping that the founders come through again and make it financially feasible for the game. Lets face it, at the time of the founders, it was the largest collection of money for any kickstarter event. They are hoping lightning strikes twice in the same spot.

Definitely not striking here, its a non starter.

I hate to be pessimistic, Im an overly positive person in real life, but I mean after all these years I think a lot of us have gotten jaded/hardened hearted.

I just feel like in some of their darkest hours...and theres been a lot of them...they should have run these, just as a basic rally the troops/morale booster/just showing some form of appreciation.

It reminds me of the Navy...when you've been on deployment and its been a long arduous 6 months and you have two months left to go, your leadership has been really ****** and and morale is low...then the announcement comes, tonight is Steak and Lobster, all you can eat! That's because your deployment just got extended two more months and they dont want people throwing themselves overboard.

Maybe too little too late for mwo.
I bought mw5 because it's mw5.
NOT because I got mwo freebies.

In the Phoenix mech/Founders mech event thread it was mentioned 'why not a gold mech event?'. Matt replied that he planned on doing a clan invasion mech event and would include the gold mechs during that event.

This isn't the first gold mech event, there was a previous event pattern that started with Founders and Phoenix seperate. (during that time IIRC there was a poll to sell Phoenix again which failed to pass)

So you're a bit late on asking if it's in poor taste.

Players: PGI really should do a gold mech event along with these other resistance and founders events. PGI obviously hates us.
PGI: OK we’ll do an event
Other Players: OMG PGI are doing a gold mech event, how could they? How cynical; PGI are evil!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Someone who refers to "the whales" and asks about poor taste may not have the best personal barometer of class.

Also, why does it matter that they're developing another game? It's a single-player game and thus really not a competitor for this one. Is there some hidden link, like when a guy I know told me that (then) President Obama was using Operation Jade Helm to dig secret tunnels under Wal-Marts in the Southern US in order to stage a coup if Mrs. Clinton lost? The lengths to which a certain mindset of professional dissatisfaction will go to disapprove of literally anything PGI does never ceases to astonish.

A business behaving like...a business? Crazy right?

The total value of the events for the Gold mechs works out at literally cents worth of MC and cosmetics. Is it worth whinging about an event that provides cents of value to people who spent $500 on a single mech?
