Is there a lingo/terminology FAQ or guide? I haven't found one.
I've played a little with Solaris and Scouting faction play, but so far all of my few-hundred games have been 'Quick Play' 12 v 12.
On YouTube, I hear a lot of terminology thrown around of different game modes. What is...?
Solo Queue
Group Queue
PUG games (that's just 'quick play' 12 v 12, right?)
...and where/how do you play with friends, or in these 2v2 or 4v4 etc games?

I would advise practicing against each other before you drop into the Group Queue - GQ is a much more cut-throat environment than SQ,

Is 'Solo Queue' and 'PUG games' the same? The same thing happening when you simply his 'Quick Play' in the upper right corner?

On the subject of terminology: Has anybody put up a chart depicting degrees of damage? As in: stripped, open, cored, etc. I assume there's some consensus among experienced players on the criteria. I'd like to see something like a series of paper doll images with an example of each.

Open means that a given component has no armor (if no component given, assume CT).
Cherry / one touch means that component is almost gone (if no component given, assume CT).
Stripped refers to loss of weapons, sometimes used interchangeably with stick (although in the strictest definition, stick refers to a mech that is a torso on leg/s with no weapons ).
Zombie refers to a mech that is not quite a stick , as CT/Head mounted weapons continue to make it a threat.
