AMS should not be your primary LRM deterrent. The primary counter to LRM fire are those two things hanging between your legs which come standard with every mech - YOUR ******* BALLS.
You see an LRM mech? ******* push and skype video call that son of a *****. Direct fire > indirect fire all day every day. Stop hiding behind that hill, stroll out there, and be like RING RING LRM BOATING ************, IT'S ME, SHOOTY MCTOOTY.
Every single map except maybe polar highlands has avenues to push down LRM *************, all it needs is a little gung - ho, some profanity in voice chat, and just push them down.
And you know what? On Polar Highlands? Yeah, I kinda agree with you. But literally every other map is hell for LRMs. Have you tried running an LRM boat on Solaris? A bunch of volleys later and all you end up doing is putting 500 missiles into Billy Bob Steiner's penthouse office in downtown building C. Polar highlands? Yeah, it's going to take some extra coordination and teamplay. Every other map? ****, just get in their face or slug a few gauss rounds their way.
Anyway, LRMs are annoying but they rarely secure a kill or win the game. Getting into people's faces and putting two gauss slugs into their center torso wins games.
AMS is in a decent spot, because it does not oppressively nullify LRMs but if you have enough of them on your team, you can be more forgiving in your position game.
