I often go into the mechlab to create some insane mech to field in QP. I feel like Dr. Frankenstein screaming to the heavens "Give my creation LIFE!".

I was fielding my 6x flamer 2x mg firestarter the other day and it was horrible until I was able to shut someone down and shoot them in the face. OH THE GLORY, I could hear the crowds chanting my name as he died. It didn't matter that his team mates tore me to shreds, my creation worked. Even for just that one glorious moment.

Post Up your most insane builds and regale us in the tales of your glory.

I did a 3 SNPPC Urbie and used the Standard 60 for its negative tonnage to fit it all. Takes you forever to get into combat, but when you do THINGS DIE—including eventually yourself from the overheat.

Not me. I tend to take a very methodical approach to design with fairly extensive testing. I even have a test track I use where I test everything from pinpoint accuracy, to heat management, to ammo consumption, to hard point location, to mobility and agility factor, etc, etc. I was just thinking today about how crazy and OCD I am when it comes to mech design, then again maybe it is that OCD that makes me a mad scientist.

Sometimes, just tinkering around seeing if I can make some obscure mech do something it wasn't really meant to.

I tried all kinds of builds on a High Roller (Bushwacker) until happily realizing a pair of Rotary 5s fit quite nicely. That grin turned into a mad cackle as I lay waste and ruin to all who stood in front of me. This was many months ago, before Rotaries and Bushwackers were nerfed Posted Image

Also an MRM 30 in a Huginns (Raven) works surprisingly well... though it doesn't actually kill anything, the damage numbers makes it appear impressive Posted Image

In mech lab I actually prefer playing “dress up” with the paint jobs. Most recently I was pleased with how the Vulcan looks in all bright green except 1 giant eyeball covering the cockpit. Talk about building monsters.

The Vulcan's spherical cockpit is just perfect for decal shenanigans:

Only time I go for a WTF mad design is when I'm doing Solaris.

I am still working on a Boar’s Head build with a STD400 engine.
I loaded it with 6 TAGs, a Command Consule, a light MG and the rest is ammo for the MG - with CASE of course.

Only tested offline.

Treb7k has fantastic quirks.

Was alternating between Lb10x and 2snubs, but that was a bit hot/slow and the two weapons don't sync that well, and an ac20/snub which is pretty fun because they sync incredibly well (range and cooldown) but it's very ammo limited. Would probably never run it in QP but it's fun to mess around with.
