False. I've done 2 scouting missions in about 2 hours and then I can't get into any more matches. I had been waiting for 30 mins and I gave up.

All I'm hearing is more excuses and hurdles to make it harder for players like me to progress and have fun. I'm done with this game.
You want more mech bays? Gotta sit through 10 missions before getting any progress even though players before you didn't have to go through this.
You want to make this process easier? You need FRIENDS or contacts or connections, cos on your own you'll just have to wait hours to play, suck it.

They run tons of events that reward MC, which can be used to buy mechbays. Wait long enough and they even go on sale.
Those Faction loyalty rewards are only worth farming in a group/unit. Factionplay is the unit/group mode.

Do you realize how much free MC they give out? you can spend that easily on Mechbays. Quit whinning, Mister Whiney McWhinster.

it is a hold over from when CW/FP started they (PGI) wanted to keep players from immediately swapping
sides so they had some penalties (some of the penalties they did away with)
so if you take a loyalist contract it is in fact a contract if/when you break it you incur a 10 match penalty
there are arguments fore and against the penalties which I wont get into
its painful to some of us that only have one account but "it is what it is" as we like to say around here
I also could not get any scouting matches so I ended up doing 7 invasion matches to get through the probation

4 free mechbays should give you enough to decide if you like the main game or not. If not, don't put any money down. There's not much you have to actually buy in this game, and if you can wait, you might get some free ones through events.

But that's more of a me issue. As to the OP. While it is an F2P and stuff like Mechbays are going to be a grind. To be fair. If he can't even get a match because of the sorry state of FP's population. He has at least a good point there. It's one thing to work for it. It's another to sit in queue for extended period. : /

I've been playing on and off since closed beta in 2012 and I've never heard of ways to earn free MC, where is that even advertised?

As I said above, I've been playing since 2012 but mostly active since they've changed the skill system. I know I love the game and the teamwork aspect of it, I just wish I could spend my credits and build new mechs without having to actually spend real money. I'm just stuck at 8 mechs right now and there's no real point to keep playing because I'm not progressing anything.

Posters above are correct, even as a potato you'll accumulate bays. It's one of the few mechanics of the MWO economy I have little criticism for

The best place is to look at events is on the homepage (ignore the things for sale stuff) which usually start on a Thursday and run til Tuesday. Back in 2012, there were no events, but they've increased in frequency to the point where there's some small goal every weekend. There's usually a couple overlapping events. It can be a little complicated with multiple objectives having different rewards. The UI is a little clunky. In game, click the E icon on the middle bottom slightly to the left. You can see active, past, and future (if listed) events. Again, UI is a little clunky cause you have to click to expand things. Look for small amounts (50ish) of MC for objectives and focus on those. It's not a reward all the time, but more and more these days, they've thrown it in.
The best events for free stuff are the "stocking stuffer" or grab bag ones. There's one for Halloween, Christmas, and Easter usually. This one you have to redeem the bags through the website. Basically, hit a certain match score threshold and you get one or two bags to click to open and get a random prize from a list. Small amounts of MC are usually one of the potential prizes. Sometimes, there may be a mechbay involved. Or a free mech. Speaking of--there were two free mechs (will be--they release in March) handed out for any player who had played on Dec 26, played one match with a easy match score to achieve. That's 2 free mechs and free bays if you don't like the mechs.
Admittedly, the best way to keep up with what's happening is to check the homepage. Not everyone does that. The carousel in-game will have the same stuff for the most part but, yeah I don't look at it there either.
