They did. Which is why this game is close to expiring. So that one day, when you have forced all the bads out, you and the other elite can sit there and wait 30 minutes for a quick play match...

Back when repair and rearm was removed from the game, I'm pretty sure Paul stated that the economy was adjusted to to reflect that game mechanic's absence.

They will. Because there will be no game left to balance, without paying customers. Do you think the 1000 or so elite players are enough to keep the lights on?

The problem is not that there are bad players of this game. The problem is that they crop up in your queue.

I'm ok with the c-bill payout, but exp gains on losses are brutal. I'm already playing at a handicap with a mech that isn't fully skilled. I don't need insult to injury by giving me less than 800 xp so I can't even get 1 SP off that match.

Things have been going that way all along. Didn’t you hear, happens to all games. Population is dying and NPE is in the tanks according to many. Matchmaker is doing exactly what they want it to do. So nothing is going to get fixed, because nothing is broken.

i usually get 300 to 500k on a lose. Which is enough to cover for consumables (320k at worst), so 120k for an average game @ 40 minutes, i don't see how folks think that's a bad deal.. faction play should be floated with players who want to earn c-bills.

I am pretty sure the only difference is the 50k or so you get extra for winning. That being said the reason why the pay out is so bad on a loss has alot to do with the simple fact that in a losing situation, there is alot less opportunity to perform activities that make money. Probably the most visible display of this is the income lost for kill assists. You win and generally speaking your probably going to get awarded income for 8-10 kill assists, lose and mostly likely your team only killed 3-5 enemy which means you are losing out on 3-5 or more kill assist awards. Flanking is another thing that comes to mind. If your team is losing, generally speaking your the one getting flanked, not the one flanking. All these things add up. -50k for not getting the victory bonus, -45k for missing out on 3 kill assists you would have gotten if your team would have won. -20k for not being able to flank because your the team on the defensive, maybe another -20k or more other missed opportunities for kills, KKMD, etc you would have gotten if your team was the victor. All of a sudden the difference between a win and loss is the difference between 300k pay out and 75k pay out and every bit of it is due to the fact you really didn't perform as well as you think you did.

I don't know how you came to the conclusion that I this was in any way about Faction Play.

payouts are fine in quickplay. Although in faction warfare the payouts for losing suck bigtime. you should still get contract bonuses even for losing.

I also think a big part of the problem is that consumables cost way too much for people that are cbill poor. and quite frankly consumables are dumb and shouldnt even exist in the first place.

Dooming and glooming a game has never worked and 100 percent of the time, the people that call it are wrong.
On to the economy, its not easy to suggest any type of change.
1. The first reason is if they increase the payout too much, then getting mechs, and getting them ready becomes silly. As a consequence the game begins to feel stupid.
2. The second problem is allot of things are pulling on peoples cbills these days, and the company needs to make money. So if you increase the cbills too much, then no one buys packs or anything else, and the game really does die.

In the end of the day I am not sure exactly where the numbers should be at on pay outs. What I do know is skill points are not cheap. Consumables take away after each match. Battlemechs are not cheap. These require allot of cbills to get ready, from engine, to structure. Invasion drop decks require four mechs, thats about 65 million not counting skill point cost. Like I said I really would not know where the balance would be found on pay outs.

This being said having to reload and rebuild a mech after being killed, would be really fun, but at the current payout it would cause more problems then its worth. Also for that to happen and not cause issues players would need to be able to salvage the mechs they destroy. Then we are back to PGI would never make a dime off of MWO ever again. So not possible in my opinion.

Honestly if your having XP/CBill issues.

1. Grab a Hero Mech or any special mech that fits your play style and then go to town.

2. Participate in events for free MC.

3. Purchase Premium Time and or Hero mech with all the MC that is being given out. Trust me it is falling from the skies compared to how stingy they used to be with it.

I mean just last night using the Hero Flea I earned close to 10mill C-bills. Do not know the amount of XP as I do not track it, and that C-Bills were over the course of about 15 to 20 matches.
