I noticed that there is comp play and bolt ones.
Is there a place to read on these new features?

Welcome back.
Comp play's been around. But it is seasonal at best.
Bolt-ons is a simple thing to check out in game, just go into camo specs, go over to bolt ons and have a loook.
LRMs now have different behavior for indirect and direct fire. The lock on system has been slightly changed. The Free Artemis for Streaks bug as old as the game itself got fixed.
An exploit for RACs and machine guns came and went.
People cry rivers over the fact that almost immediately after a change in maximum heat for mechs (going from 90 to 120 threshold to what equates to a realistic cap around 60 and a stretch of 70), we also saw two massive changes to the way the game handles side torso loss for Clan XL and LFE, in which the heat generated by the engine/weapons doesn't disappear with what is lost... and that the old slap on the wrist of the game's maximum threshold loss from engine and heatsink destruction is no longer taken from just a fraction of the base pool of ten as it had been ever since January 2013 but the cap of how much you can lose is gone and every heatsink counts as it did in 2012.
Between those two, losing 8 to 12 heatsinks boated on your mech is a crippling loss, now take a laser boat that's boating heatsinks and sporting one of those engines and the ST is blown instantly losing those and a third of those in the engine and its no wonder they cry.
And yet there's two simple ways to get around it, maintain less than 80% heat when about to lose the ST or just hit override (you'll suffer the stiff internal damage from overriding but you might survive the ordeal).
That's about all I can think of that's changed. And 16 months worth of mech packs.
As for a place to read it: Announcements / patchnotes entries...

Thanks for the brain dump!
Seems announcements stopped last summer but I guess I will give them a look!
I have a laser boat medium, I will make sure I check my temps if damaged
EDIT: Said Announcements but meant commend chair.
What is Russ up to nowadays?

A clear lack of sleep due to crunch.
MW5 Mercs.
We're likely to get a road map toward May. June at latest. But despite how a "whole new team was acquired for transverse," I'm pretty sure with its kickstarter never taking off that whole new team probably didn't happen and its a number of the existing staff pulling double duty. As such after MW5 Mercs is out, one could expect maps or such over here.
Speaking of, the old versions of a few maps should be returning soon. Personally I'd like a change in rotation so that cold maps are lumped together for voting, hot maps are lumped together, and normal maps are lumped together. This way when Terra Therma comes up, there won't be a cold map to choose. New Terra Therma's been out for years, and I've played on it twice. We'd probably have a lot fewer tears about the maps if we stopped picking the same damn maps every time.
Far as your lasers.. Heat thresholds are lowered, but cooling went up in response. You'll cool faster, and in extreme cases of laser vomit you will alpha less overall damage. Non-assault-insta-killing laser alphas are pretty much unaffected.

I came back after about a year.
Player skill on average has dropped. Im rusty, was never that great, and am putting up better numbers. You can do stupid sh*t in a Flea/Piranha that back in 2016 woulda ended your match via dual gauss to the chest.
SRM spread is worse, specially for Clans. Atremis got nerfed, and may not be worth on certain IS builds. Clan LRM boats...should you feel like slumming it...can spam launchers so you may not need Artemis.
With slower Assaults , players tend to use slower mechs anymore. It could be me, but 50kph isnt the struggle it was before.
...And with that said, slow mech uses cry about NASCARS, so get used to hearing about it.
Agility overall has been nerfed. Fat mechs cant twist damage like they used to, but some mechs like the Atlas got some buff.
The small lights are now "OP" in the eyes of many players. Since they dont sweep legs or put their back to a wall.
Players dont read the MinMap or really communicate.
Clans got ATM missiles, which 2ATM12 is pretty strong...if...you can manipulate the ranges. Heavy Lazers are pretty bad in general. Clan MPL is pretty boss. C-erml got nerfed due to boating in Gaussvomit builds...to the detriment of mechs like Ice Ferrets and such. other weapons like erll work in FW dropdecks.
IS got Heavy Gauss(dual Heavy Gauss is pretty powerful if you like slow mechs. Annihilators and Hero Cyclops are the best)
LFE engines for IS helped some fringe mechs but the new ST loss mechanic was too ham-fisted.
Mgs are good, if not for the complaints. LMGs are the better ones and were nerfed but still good. many players cant math that Lights cant really use any other ballistics and that nice DPS comes at the cost of facetanking which good players punish lights for doing. 4MGs are the minimum to use to be worthwhile, even with quirks.
Heat Cap/Dissipation was changed to reduce 'big alphas'. Heat cap was dropped but dissipation in creased. Not sure it had the desired effect.
Here is a new and decent list for the current hot robots.

Population has declined to the point where getting a good team is just pure luck of the draw. Tiers mean nothing anymore (if they ever did).
