Alright so i got an interesting idea, i sure someone in the forums has already come up with it before or at less the question for it.

How would you all like the use of a vr head set for the game, not a requirement but to be usable in match. Being able to look left or right or even aim in the direction you are looking at to fire.

This has been brought up. Ages ago.

Answer is yes, people would like it, but no, MWO wont support it. I can't recall if MW5 will. I know there was a lot of speculation though.

People used to aim in freelook, basically full torso twisted but shooting straight ahead with free look
But it was disabled
Skill ceiling/floor and dat kinda thing like original JJ nerfage

I understand it was brought up ages about when the tech was still more or less well... in its infancy but with how the tech has advanced and grown, im asking how you all would feel if it was added to the game.

Tech worked fine (free look) but not many did or could do it

MWO has support for IR5 Tracker (head tracker HW/SW) so VR ain't a big leap

i use trackir and one thing that i find its impossible to use advanced zoom with it as the crosshair is out of alignment unless you are looking dead center. i also find that most people who use advanced zoom are doing it wrong. zooming all the way in to hit point blank targets. i dont use it and i dont see a whole lot of high skill players that use it either. every now and again i get the 'where the hell is my crosshair' issue where my hat slips or i readjust my chair and i have to recenter to fix it, i actually have a button on my throttle just to recenter.

i want to replace it with a gyro based tracker of my own design (imu meet esp32) but theres the issue of hijacking the nda'd trackir api.

That'd be cool and all, but don't hold your breath.

if seen from years ago somone set up VR head set an looked around the cockpit an well the cockpits in MWO are no ware VR ready so much is broken or missing when you try to look around., an I dont think PGI has done any work with any mech to make it VR ready.
