Incursion... where your team grabs 3 energy cells, return them to base, then turn around to find your team lost because the fight in the middle of the map had a 12:9 disadvantage to your team while you were off running power cells across the map.

Incursion on Polar somehow takes everything wrong with the map and mode and multiplies them together.

100% get rid of voting.

Reason: Voting allows people to bring intentionally busted mechs for the given terrain they want to fight in, instead of enforcing players to bring more "Generalist" mechs.

The problem with this playerbase that I've seen, is everyone seems to think THEY are the special snowflake, that THEY are the hero of the story... you're not... you're a grunt at best, and fodder at worst. Live that, love that, or move on.

As a grunt, you don't get to choose where you fight, command does that for you, you just go out and get the job done. Voting encourages people to build specifically for the cold maps, or specifically for the long ranged maps. Granted, when someone actually get's the multiplier to vote for a hot map, or more brawly map, then those mechs fall apart, but even I'll admit, those mechs STILL have a place on the battlefield.

Random maps mean more mech loadouts are viable... map voting, means I see snow maps voted for way, way too often... at least if it's random, I know it wasn't the munchkin's that picked it.

They don't though, they just mean that a new meta will emerge which is what is most viable on the largest range of maps just like it used to be (i.e. mid range, reasonably cool, trade mechs like Gauss + ERML, etc.). There will still be optimal builds, they won't be mixed range builds, and players will still take them.

And to you point about being a grunt, wouldn't command pick mechs that are best suited to the terrain they will be fighting on instead of just dropping random mechs on random maps? I'm in a merc unit (arguably all of us are). I drop where I want.

I'm with the "Get Rid OF Voting" as well. The HPG, Mining, HPG routine, over and over and over again, everyday is old......

Although, getting those p[layers out on Polar, or any other open map is pure entertainment as they can't shoot beyond 400m and don't have AMS or Radar Dep or ECM and are eaten alive..... Now that, is entertaining !!!

We as a community have digressed that far............and, at the same time whine about balance. Too funny.

These kinds of discussions on the internet always baffle me. It's like there are 10 people at the table, discussing their favourite ice cream flavours. And everybody is convinced that the flavour they like most is the "right" one. And feels the need to convince the others... And if they cannot, demands to change the rules so that their flavour is the only one available.
