[Valdarion Silarius]

So what mechs would you consider to be "unicorns" at this point (as in, very rare mechs that you hardly ever see drop in quick play, faction play, Solaris, etc. but the main focus being quick play here). From personal experience solo quick play (your mileage may vary) I never see fielded:

Osiris
Cougar
Incubus
Hellfire
Hellspawn
Wolverine

Some Mechs that I see once in a blue moon during solo QP are:

Gargoyle
Jenner
Dragon
Executioner
Thanatos
Charger
Hatamoto-Chi
Banshee
Viper
Vapor Eagle
Ice Ferret

Is your experience different? What are some mechs that you never or hardly ever see during quick play and other game modes?

Absolutely Firestarter. I see one every few months or if there is a Flamer challenge.
I think I'm the only one running it from time to time (I say from time to time because I have 13 unique chassis to skill up, so I rarely play Elites mechs atm.
But definetly the Firestarter.
I regularly to semi-regularly see everything you listed except for Hellspawn.

Still not sure if I have ever seen one in game.

I've seen 2 champions...ever. Panthers have become rare. Never see Vipers any more.

Some of those "unicorn" mechs are just non-competitive mechs.

On that topic, rather than PGI fixing weapons and stuff, I would personally see them go through the mech list (using their server side data), so what's not being played and giving them quirks to work.

A bit like how the Awesome big became a quirk.

I'd like to see the Executioner get some love. A reduced crit chance quirk would be nice since the thing is so ginormous now.

I see a few Vipers, laser/mg builds, quite a good mechs, sadly had a gigantic nose so it suffers the same problem as the Raven.
Incubus is quire rare, Panther I saw one the other day, tooks its arm off the poor thing.
And I am really surprised there's not many champions running around from those who bought it since it is a really damn good mech. Excellent hardpoints and armor profile. Hell, even its useless arms are excellent shield arms. I'm looking forward to getting a champion and putting AC/20 + 5 MLs on it.

The Champion is definitely my favourite IS heavy in my stable. I run it with a UAC20 or LBX-20, 4ERML and some rockets. I should bring it out more but I have about 20 'mechs I'm rotating through on their way to 91SP.

There's a Dragon and Jenner in my usual rotation, so maybe those are the once in a blue moon you refer to!

I'd argue the group queue list would look a little different; seeing lots of Vapor Eagles, Dragons, and Thanatos' in groups.

See heaps of Thanatos. They tend to be ecm/stealth gauss sniper builds though so you might not see the name as often as others, or.in brawls, but they are there. Distinctive shape

I can't make my viper work. Yeah it flies like a bird. If you ever use max jump you tend to die before you hit the ground, it doesn't have the torso depression to make best use of getting into annoying high spots and it has a skill curve above my abilities. I've seen videos of it working, but almost never see one in the.wild. Can't even find a cheesy build to finish the skill grind.

People should try the Osiris (at least the 6 Med-Laser variant), it is a really good mech.

Wolverine with Streaks is strong too. I use it every day.

I see Ice Ferrets often enough, it's mostly because they can run ECM.

I completely forgot about the Ice Ferret, and I even have one sitting in my medium inventory. I'll add it to the list of "blue moon" mechs since I do own one and very rarely see one.

Got a slightly different experiance as I see Cougar and Osiris pretty regularily when I play, seeing as I am grinding a few to 91 SP.

Don't remember when the last time was that I saw a Jenner though.
