Yeah I know. Said that in my post it was an error.

However the precedent as I said - has been set. There is no reason it can't be used as an almost stroke of genius to spark life into a LOT of malingering chassis.

Ghost heat exists for a reason. Putting +HSL on mechs should be done very carefully and on mechs that desperately need it. The Cataphract 3D is not one of them.

Exactly. Not sure why anyone would use the 3D for a gauss/ppc build anyway. For that build the 0XP works better.

Because its the only IS Heavy that gets you close enough to a Falconer

No reason it can’t be used. Yes.
But will it? No.
Why? Because “an almost stroke of genius” is about as likely an output from a balance pass these days as is a nerf to LRMs. It’s just not going to happen (now prove me wrong Chris).

HSL quirks should only be given out when two criteria are met. 1) it allows a stock variant to be able to use their stock loadout without ghost heat. 2) the variant is generally considered underpowered and giving it HSL would not result in it being overpowered.

The Cataphract 3D doesnt meet both those criteria and should not get HSL. And it should especially not get HSL for Gauss/PPC because they arnt weapons that appear on its stock loadout anyway.

So ask PGI to add the Falconer. Instead of trying to turn mechs that arnt Falconers into Falconers. Cataphracts are Catraphracts if they were supposed to be Falconers they wouldnt be Cataphracts.

If every mech could be every other mech we wouldnt need different mechs wed only need one mech. And while PGI has done a relatively poor job of making sure every mech is unique and useful in its own right theyve at least made it so no one mech can do everything.

Oh the greatest time of the Falcopract ended when PGI nerf buffed the JumpJets and their fosaken HSR allowed the poptarter, but befire that speed, range and jump jets were incredible powerful, and fun shooting a Stalker in the rear seeing that guy turn but not looking up, turning again eating another round, turning and start team killing... as said those were the days

The selling points of the 3D are JJs, 2 ballistics and the -20% UAC jam chance that comes with them. This sure invites dual UAC10, or a UAC20 builds. I used the 1X till now (and love it), but the 3D is on my shopping list.

I've used a UAC/10 (arm) + UAC/20 (right torso) with it. It works quite well.

Why limit +HSL quirks in this way, when no other quirks are?
Screw "stock". Give quirks, including HSL quirks to any and all underperforming mechs that will benefit from them. Why have all these redundant or simply unplayed variants when a simple +HSL here or there might make them actually useful, dare I hope, even fun, to play.

Most Annihilators need +1HSL quirks, I feel they are underpowered...
