If only there was a mode where you didn't have to depend on a team. Where success was completely dependent on personal ability. Or maybe if there was a mode where you could pick your team mates so that you could guarantee you'd be dropping with players that would work together. /s
Unless you're going to run pure meta 100% you can't really complain about the tactics that other players choose to use. You're also playing sub optimally, you just think it okay in one case (builds/mechs) rather thank another (positing/movement). If you're getting left behind by NASCAR it's usually your fault.
Here is the things I find super annoying about NASCAR as a tactic.
The results of the effectiveness of the tactic are nearly entirely based on what the match maker does and not so much what the players do.
Since everyone is basically going left as fast as possible and shooting the first target they see what determines how successful this is likely to produce a win are factors selected before the match begins. What team has the best performing mechs for the tactics in use.
An additional factor is due to highly predictable nature of the NASCAR all it takes is one highly skilled player to exploit the weakness of the predictability of the tactic...and the match maker decided what team that player was on and nothing the other 11 team members did.
And the next most annoying thing is trying to get a team to STOP using a losing tactic or to alter the rotation to exploit a weakness the enemy has presented ( you know active choices made by players and not statistical likelyhoods set by a match maker) When it comes a time to make a choice the players typically will just keep rotating even when it's an obviously stupid plan.
So yeah...I see some validity to complaining about a team of randomly selected players who drew the short straw on the statistical likelyhood of winning a NASCAR and even when this is painfully evident they still spoon feed the enemy an easy victory because it's easier than making a real choice based on a current situation and alter tactics.
P.S. If only the group queue had some semblance of order in match building. As it is now it's grab some groups summing to 12 make team red...grab some other groups summing to 12 and make team blue...no bother with tier or tonnage or mech class or group sizes or anything it's just 12 random players in groups summing to 12 vs 12 other grouped players summing to 12. No match building mechanic at all.
